Most of the time, I'll want to look at something I'm wearing before something I'm carrying (to check item damage, etc.), and keywords go a long way to help differentiate different objects in a room. For the most part, this system really well.
However, wearing a SIGNet ring prevents me from looking at a SIGN. Ever. Would it be possible to make just these items ignore abbreviations, and only respond to "look signet" (or "look ring")?
If not, and the solution to this involves overhauling the entire system, I'll gladly continue removing and storing my ring when looking around.

Re: LOOK Order of Execution and Word Shortening
Hmmm! I can see how this would be annoying! I can't PAT my pet anywhere there is a PATH exit, kinda the same thing.
But I can't reproduce this! I went to a place with a sign, put on a signet ring...and LOOK SIGN showed me the sign, no troubles!
Can you PM me where you were, and the short description (what you get when you look) of your signet ring? It might be specific to that particular combination, something we can fix with area code.

Or perhaps if abbreviations could be prioritised lower than full words (So 'look sign' would look at the sign first, then the signet ring - but 'look sig' would just look at them in whatever order they come). I don't even know if that would be possible without being mega-clunky, but you raise a bloody good point all the same!

99.9% sure that this is what it does - check for full matches, if none, check for partial matches. If there are cases where it doesn't, lemme know and I will summon my biggest stick.Lathlain wrote:Or perhaps if abbreviations could be prioritised lower than full words (So 'look sign' would look at the sign first, then the signet ring - but 'look sig' would just look at them in whatever order they come). See Lisira's first post.
Does it check worn or inventory full or abbreviated first and disregard full matches in the room?

Re: LOOK Order of Execution and Word Shortening
I just tested this with Harroghty (wearing a signet) and "look sign" functioned as intended. Pat, used in a room with a ? exit (path), did not work.
