Belt Item Layers

Post by Harroghty » Thu Jan 19, 2012 2:03 am

Please post here with comments about the programs added to some in-game sheaths. Do you like them? Could I improve them somehow?

Credit to Gwain for that original idea.

I love that certain scabbards are able to be changed on the fly as to where on the belt they can be worn (close to the skin, as armor, or loosely). I think all scabbards, weapon loops, and weapons that can be worn on the belt should be able to be worn on multiple locations at the player's discretion.

I second that - it would certainly make it easier to get a matching belt set.

I actually forgot body scabbards.

This issue should be fixed now via hard code thanks to Mask. Please post here if you have any issues with it.

I like the functionality, but I'd still like to be able to see the appearance description on the items, which I dont seem to be able to get.

Mask fixed this today. Thanks (to you for reporting, and to him for fixing).

At one point I could wear a black silk bag, an embossed scabbard, the scabbard from the Waterdeep Fighters guild, and a spellpouch. If I go along the same process that I would to get everything right and proper (which took forever to nail the process down), when I try and wear the spellpouch, the last thing I would usually wear, it removes the silk bag.

Starting with a fresh belt, this is the process I'd go through:
You wear a black silk bag on your belt.
You pull your scabbard to the middle of your belt.
You wear an embossed scabbard on your belt.
You pull your scabbard down your belt.
You wear a leather-bound scabbard embroidered with nine silver stars on your belt.
You pull your scabbard down your belt.
You stop using a black silk bag.
You wear a sapphire spellpouch embroidered with diamond stars on your belt.

At the end you see the bag being removed by the spellpouch. Any suggestions on how to get it back to where I could, or was I using a bug to my advantage without knowing?

I'd guess it was a bug - unless something changed, belts only have three wear locations.

You're sure that they were all on the belt and that the bag was not held in a hand? If so, then yes, it was a bug.

Before, I could hold all four items on the belt. Bag first, armor, embossed scabbard next, under, and the Nine Star scabbard after that, under. The spellpouch topped everything off.

Whoops, then, if that's the case. Had no idea it was only three wearslots since I could successfully manage all four. x_x

This begs to me the question, could there be a static location adjuster for items worn on the belt, perhaps with a kismet or gloru cost like with the items in the anniversary Berdusk area? Is there anyway this would be abusive or unfair simply to have an area where you could organize on belt items at preference. I think its a step in the right direction, I imagine maybe spell pouches or weapons could be an issue, but otherwise, being able to choose where you have a bag or sheath seems excellent.

To what end? To adjust the order in which they appear?

Well realistically you could where whichever, wherever. But in game practicality, its a matter of fitting any combination of belt containers and weapon holders without superficial restrictions of layering position on any specific combinations of items. It -is- superficial, but useful for item coordination.

I am still not sure exactly what you are asking for. Is it because some items are not transparent?

It's cosmetic reasons. Certain choices in bags and scabbards, and what ones will fit on your belt and what will not. Adjusting layers on them would allow you wear a preferred combination and often more gear appropriate assortment of belt containers and scabbards. It is a cosmetic idea, but handy none the same. Though, largely improved by scabbard adjustment, for which we say thanks.

I'm sorry, I can't work out what you're asking for either - I think there must be a mix-up somewhere.

After recent code updates you're able to wear any three belt items regardless of layer in any order you choose - not just scabbards. If that's what you're after, then your wish may already have been answered!
