As of right now, I believe this issue is one in the same. I have merged the topics. Should this not take care of the issue, I will start another post.

Bug fix month
A thought on Blade Barrier: Maybe it could be made to work like fireshield or shockshield, just with a different damage type. Rather than doing fire or electrical damage it could do slicing damage.

I like all the shield spells, including blade barrier...as long as the duration is set 1/round a level. So whatever that would be in FK terms. I'd say, 3 minutes at GM - 30 seconds at inept.
Costly spells - but pretty much guarantee a successful fight.
But if duration can't be changed - then yeah, lost cause.
