Hammer that mines

Post by Nysan » Sun Jul 04, 2010 8:45 am

For some reason, "a jewellers hammer" is responding to the mining code. Not sure if this can be fixed without breaking them for lapidary again, but worth a shot.

Well, confirmed, and that sure does seem off.
(98) A jewellers hammer lies here. (perfect)
Is coded as a pick, so that likely explains why it can mine.
Not sure about fixing it without breaking lapidary, but let's take a shot at it.

At the same time, we should try to fix
(25586) a steel jeweler's hammer inlaid with sapphire runes (perfect)
as it doesn't currently work with lapidary...but it does work as a pick for mining. Go figure! It, too, is coded as a pick.

Spelling note: jeweller's vs. jewelers is another one of those wacky US vs English spelling deals. So both are used, and somewhere in the world, both are right...but we should use the two l spelling, as that's English.

I'll need some help on both of these, though. Anyone have any idea (on the code side) what qualifies something to function with lapidary?

I tested this by equipping i98 and constructing a ring using a silver ingot (i42) and a tiny ruby (i295). I saw this response when i98 was still a pick (38):
inv
(42) a low-grade ingot of metal (perfect)
(295) a tiny ruby (perfect)
You heat silver in a fire.
You hammer the ring into shape.
You set a tiny ruby in the ring.
inv
(97) a silver ring set with a tiny ruby (perfect)
It did not work correctly when I changed it to a light hammer (55). If you change i98's VALUE3 from 38 (pick) to 55 (light hammer) then you receive this response:
You need to wield a jeweller's hammer.
We can probably just ask people to be reasonable in their RP for now and, later on, ask Mask to change this requirement.
