sickle = scimitar

Post by Althasizor » Tue Jun 26, 2012 6:52 pm

While testing for this: viewtopic.php?f=77&t=15501

I discovered something odd. Object VNUM 8501, 'a silver sickle', is actually type 'scimitar'. The name of this object even includes 'scimitar', but it also includes 'sickle'.

I found a similar report here: viewtopic.php?f=148&t=12993

I don't know of these two are related but it's not the only case of this, either.
Object VNUM 22250, 'a blackened sickle', is also type 'scimitar'.
Object VNUM 8479, 'a Kriegsmesser', is type 'scimitar'. (Note: This one may not be a bug, per se. However, it's worth nothing that Kriegsmesser generally share more similarities with, say, a falchion than a scimitar.)
The following scythes are all correctly typed as 'scythe', but for some reason include 'scimitar' in their name:
Object VNUM 11934
Object VNUM 11738
Object VNUM 11535

Cheers,

Thanks, Althasizor.
  • I fixed 8501, but I do not believe it is actually loaded into the game anywhere.
  • i22250 and i22249 were both typed incorrectly (scimitar and halberd, respectively), but I corrected those.
  • i8479 is a scimitar because the war knife was a contemporary of the falchion, but a distinctly different weapon. It could be defined as "a single-edged sword sharing characteristics with both the falchion and the saber" and is designed to be wielded in one or both hands.
  • The 11000 series weapons probably all still have that keyword from when I went through and amended most of the scythes in the game last year.
