I realize that this is one of those one in a million things, but I wanted to show you guys what happened anyway.
Apparently dying does not stop you from disarming your opponent. There were no other mobs in the room at this time.
A pirate is DEAD!
You hear a pirate's death cry.
You get 2 gold coins from the corpse of a pirate.
You get 3 silver coins from the corpse of a pirate.
You get 2 copper coins from the corpse of a pirate.
Someone DISARMS you!

Re: Disarming from beyond the grave
I've seen stuff like this as well - as you are probably aware, the echoes for events sometimes don't synchronize perfectly with when they actually occur. (I actually would not be surprised if your killing blow was a punch, and it was just the disarm echo that came late.) It's one of those things that is difficult but not impossible to reproduce, so it could be fixed, but I don't think it makes the cut, given the number of other things vying for time and attention. Appreciate you pointing it out, though!
It's most important in situations like this, where you almost avoid something nasty by killing your opponent - I call it their dying blow, which doesn't seem impossible. (In very rare circumstances, PCs that have passed on have seen themselves deliver such to their killers, too.)

Disarming when not in room.
I was in an area with pirates that are well known for disarming. I was standing south of one, typed
c 'earth reaver' north' (' is intentional, because I accidentally hit that on the way to enter)
and get this:
So he disarmed me when he wasn't even in the room. o_o
c 'earth reaver' north' (' is intentional, because I accidentally hit that on the way to enter)
and get this:
Code: Select all
You begin to chant.
A someformofcomponent glows briefly.
A someformofcomponent stone glows briefly.
You make the earth erupt into a spray of stone and dirt which barely catches a pirate!
a pirate has several minor wounds.
A pirate DISARMS you!
A pirate walks in from the north.
A pirate lunges at you from out of nowhere!
For a wounded man shall say to his assailant, "If I die, you are forgiven. If I live, I will kill you."
Such is the rule of honor.

Re: Disarming when not in room.
This probably falls into the same category; he disarmed and then entered the room. Things popped up a little bit out of order, but it's not as if he was able to disarm again and again without entering the room.

Er, I think Harroghty meant to say that in point of fact he entered the room, then disarmed you, but the room entry echo came late. This we actually see frequently, the room entry echo coming after the initial attack. Again, it is a bug, but not worthy of attention before more serious ones.
