I've been meaning to +1 this for a couple of days now; I think the suggestions are pretty ace and would close the gap to the standard (which seems to be fighters for martial classes).

Speaking to the need for class balance overall and trending, I'd say that power-playing already exists here to some extent even if no one owns up to it; this is a fantasy game, and you play a hero, and a hero by most peoples' standards is powerful. Making all classes feel and play powerfully is good in my opinion, it's just differentiating how that power is expressed that's important.

It might also do to set up a new Warden of Rangers to lead the rangers, with or without a forgathering. Depending on the current plans though.

Not to mention isn't it in 3.5 that rangers aren't excluded by alignment? Is that a current house rule only or is it possible we could open up that to stimulate some ranger growth? I've read extensively about rangers and they have them in all walks of life. Be they sea elven rangers/rangers that hunt in fell sewers/of the underdark/ and forests and plains. Some aren't just wardens of the wild places, but those that took up a challenge to them and tested there hand in mastering themsleves and there chosen place in the world. Also I have noticed that they can't hide in many undergroun and rocky places and those are as close to natural as you can get. They have alot of variant and non variant information about rangers that would be greatly used to let some forge a new path with this class. It has many possibilities for rp and just for fun.

Alignment and such is currently restricted because of concerns of possible abuse in the past, and the lack of any training facilities other than the traditional, good/neutral forest dwelling ranger. There are measures being taken already to open that up - underdark rangers are available to the deep gnome race, for instance. Alignment restrictions may be changed sometime in the near future as well, if/when a guild is built to cater to evil rangers.

There are more than just evil rangers. Slot if rangers just as much as Silvanus walk the line of balance. Just because one is not good means they will be evil. As for rangers being underpowered the only strong one i've seen are is Aldren and he has the.old way of getting stats to to offset there lack of.oomph in game. I think part of it is that it seems you have to have 18 in main stats to do good and rangers have a heavy stat requirement in several fields. And many feeling as if they gotta have so much int or your progression us so much slower without a seven amount it takes forever for even a fighter to get higher but they can dump slot into int whereas a rangers requires wisdom strength and dexterity

Off topic, but I just had to say that no one is/should be the master of all. To gain in one area, sacrifices must be made in another.

You could choose to be a martial ranger that uses little magical supplement, balance both aspects equally, or focus more towards the druidic side of the class (I like to build hybrids; it's fun). As for attribute requirements, there are ways to offset these without needing a natural 18 in all of them to be efficient.

I'm a fan of hybrids to but as I was saying. In FK you have to have thse high stats and the spells are part of the gap closer. Bows are a bit lackluster in game mechanics but can be fun. The way to go currently is dual wielding. You have to sink a major part of your stats you'd spread abou into Dex since we don't get our fighting styles that we should be getting. Warriors get theres and thieves are getting theres more and more. If we could get the ranged and the dual wielding styles put in we'd get to spread out the stats that would better fit how we want to play.

The key difference is in 3.5 the ranger gets the dual-wield or bow feats upon appropriate level regardless of meeting any prerequisite normally required for the feat. Initiating this for rangers would alleviate spreading the awarded stat points too thin in an attempt to meet feat prerequisites. So, this is exactly what the initial post of the thread touches upon as a suggestion. :)

Indeed! What are the chances of getting the feats choices looked at. Even if it was just getting bonus feats and perhaps mitigating the prerequisitves or even without that just the bonus feats. It'd help fix up rangers some more. Although the prerequisite waiving would help them choose what kind of ranger they want to go. The more intuned with nature kind. The more martial or the perfect mix of both.

Was this ever implemented?

I see now that Kinni has been building an area that will bring this in game as well as neutral ranger support. Very cool!

I don't believe there has been a change made to rangers yet, no.
