Let's not forget the fact Sembia is almost completely covered in some big whopping portal to the Plane of Shadow now.
I'm not really too excited for 4th ed. I can agree with people who feel that there were too many high level good NPCs to solve problems like the Chosen of Mystra etc but to change so many things so drastically..
It's like going to the doctor and finding out that you've suddenly within the last year begun suffering from..
A huge bleeding ulcer
Schizophrenia
Your stomach somehow digested and killed another internal organ
You've lost all your white blood cells
blah blah etc I can't think up good analogies for what happened in the realms.
I'm going back to Dark Sun. At least they started off with everything destroyed there.
