syntax echoorder (tentative name) <pet> <command>
same as order, but will display for you the returned echo

e.g. echoorder griffon def
A golden griffon feels its current protection is:
Head: good
Body: good
etc.

nice to know a bit more about our pets...

This is a helpful suggestion. Commands like "Group" are helpful because they show the basics such as health (hit points) and stamina (movement value), but a little more information would be helpful and, I think, reasonable. You could ascertain the value of armor that your horse was wearing (such as in Isolrem's example).

There is a danger of abuse, of course, but I do not feel that it is any greater than what you currently have (you can still, for example, order a mundane horse to speak) and it is mitigated by the value of this command. Think of how many newer players are confused when trying to have their horse wear a saddle blanket, saddle bags, and saddle. Now they might see the arguement raised and the issue of layers will be clearer for them because instead of "Ok" they will see "You must remove whatever first".

Or maybe just update the existing "order" command. Is there a need for a command that doesn't return the echo?

yes, if you see double echoes:
e.g.
>order horse wear saddle
A longsaddle horse wears a saddle
You wear a saddle

maybe make it return echos for certain commands...

A few things I would really like to echo off of my pet:
>def
>aff
>skills
>feats (did you know your pet had feats?)
>weapons

I suppose asking to see their score sheet would be too much (it would look messed up), but knowing carryweight and hit/dam bonus would be nice as well.

Does anyone feel this is knowing too much about your pet?

Great idea! I've often wondered just what my griffon's damage bonus, carry weight, etc, etc was. Same for my horses too. I think the score sheet for a minion would be a wonderful addition to the game. Could it be included for undead minions also, or only for living ones?

If the command only gave information that your character should ICly know, it'd be a good addition.
