Tournament and Joust - The Emprise of the Roaring Lion

The Warden of the Western Marches sends this word by courier to many cities across Faerun with his official seal...
Eligible riders are human, half-elven, elven, or aasimar who are not enemies of the crown of Cormyr. (Tieflings may be eligible by request! We have done this in the past based upon how pronounced the character's heritage is.) The same is expected of spectators, but a tournament is a busy environment so if your character does not fit those criteria and would still like to attend then they may attend in disguise at his or her own risk.
Riders in the actual events will be required to wield mundane weapons, heavy armor (magical or mundane), and ride a mundane horse (I will try to arrange that some be provided). Magical affects from items or spells are not permitted. All riders will be inspected with a spell of "Detect Magic" prior to competing and may be asked to remove some gear.
I am looking for help with this event! If you would like to volunteer your character as a judge or a herald then please post here or send me a private message. Please feel free to post here or send me a private message with comments whether or not you have attended these in the past. I am a stickler for history and I love the history of chivalry so I will not budge on some aspects, but the goal here also is for the event to entertain people - so I will make those changes necessary to accomplish that mission!
Hi! It has been one year since the last tournament (almost) and I would like to hold another one. I expect to return to the U.S. in early May and will host the tournament shortly thereafter; there will be updates to this thread with specific dates when those are available. I am posting early to begin to build ideas of other players' interest in the event. Right now, here is what it looks like...Let all princes, lords, barons, knights, and squires of Cormyr, those parts of Faerun West and East, who are not banished or enemies of the king our lord, may the Gods save him, know that a tournament will be held soon (OOC: see below!) on the yard at the Bridge of Fallen Men, in the Western Marches, there will be a great festival of arms and a very noble tourney with lances, rebated [blunted] swords, in appropriate armor, with crests, coats of arms and horses covered with the arms of the noble tourneyers, as is the ancient custom.
High and powerful princes, lords, barons, knights, and squires, each and every one of you, please raise your right hand on high, towards the Heavens, and all together, as you will in the future, promise and swear by the faith and promise of your body, and on your honor, that you will strike none of your company at this tourney with the point of your sword, or below the belt, and that no one will attack or draw on anyone unless it is permitted, and also that if by chance someone's helm falls off, no one will touch him until he has put it back on, and you agree that if you knowingly do otherwise you will lose your arms and horses, and be banished from the tourney; also to observe the orders the judges in everything and everywhere as they order delinquents punished without argument; and also you swear and promise this by the faith and promise of your body and on your honor.
