When I drink a mug of dwarven ale, when it's finished, the object is purged (works with other kinds of glass of drinks).
When I fill my water skin with a mug of dwarven ale, I empty the mug but the object stays empty in my inventory.
Would it be possible for the object to be purged too when emptied that way?

A fine suggestion, entered into Bugzilla as enhancement 940
You can actually refill the empty mug thereafter, which is really odd. Could make folk really wonder how much ale you can hold without drinking too much!
Thanks El & co!

I think having those things get purged by filling another container from it would be all well and good, but what about if you use the EMPTY command on, say, a bottle of wine? I ask because I have a habit of emptying such bottles and filling them with other things. >_>
It's a little thing, but I, personally, like being able to do that.

Add empty bottles in game which rename when filled (a bottle of water, ...) ?
But then you can't give away bottles of wine filled with orange juice

More than the actual mug remaining in my inventory, I found the message I received when emptying it into the waterskin interesting.
EMPTY ALE WATERSKIN
You fill a waterskin from a mug of dwarven ale. a mug of dwarven ale is not empty yet.
INV
You are carrying:
(6712) a mug of dwarven ale (perfect)
(10303) a waterskin (perfect)
EMPTY ALE WATERSKIN
It's already empty.
When you look inside, you see:
It is empty.
It can be picked up, held.
It cannot be worn with any other armour.
It is medium in size and would fit any body type.
It is made of glass and weighs about 1 pound.
The dark of this ale is a rich golden brown crowned by a foaming
head of white. The strong scent of alcohol, malt, and hops mixes in
the air above the mug, providing a sensory anticipation of joyful
oblivion to those who love their ale.
