Trollish Vigor

Trollish Vigor wrote:Trollish Vigor
==============
Transmutation
Range: Close
Target: Defensive
Syntax: cast 'trollish vigor' <target>

The affected creature gains greater vitality and stamina. The spell grants
the subject an enhancement bonus to Constitution, which adds the usual
benefits to hit points, saves, Constitution checks, and so forth.

Hit points gained by a temporary increase in Constitution score are not
permanent. They go away when the subject's Constitution drops back to normal.

Note: This is the equivalent of the D20 spell, Bears Endurance.
While this help file should be accurate, since Constitution is not retroactive, I believe the helpfile is incorrect.

Honestly, I'm not sure that Trollish Vigor does anything aside from increase fortitude saves; I've tested the affect and seen no change in movement nor HP.

My level 49 Wizard takes 5% movement to move through a mountainous area (or, rather, "hill"); after casting it and repeating the same movement, it still takes 5% movement. I noticed the same behavior on my level 11 when he was affected and moving through a forest area. It took 2% movement regardless of whether or not he had Trollish Vigor on him or not.

Confirmed: Trollish Vigor currently increases CON, but this only changes Fortitude save. HP and Move are not affected. The spell does not change charisma, as the wearoff echo implies.

3.5E equivalent is Bear's Endurance:

CON change is identical, but has follow-on HP effect.

To write a good bug report, I should figure out the following:
What should the move and HP boosts be?

First guess: HP should be additional 2*(level of PC); move should be increased by about the same, perhaps 2.5*level.

What would be a good wearoff echo, given CHA is not impacted by the spell? Should the name of the spell be changed?

NOT yet Bugzilla'ed.

Note: Lack of HP boost is general, also observed with Righteous Fury

Wearoff echo suggestions:
"Your head swims for a moment. You are no longer as robust."
"Your enhanced hardiness and vitality drain away."
"You sway as your augmented durability slowly dissipates."

Thanks Anguin, those are great suggestions! I went with a mix of these. I appreciate you taking the time to suggest something! :)

That's the easy fix...thinking on it, because we don't want CON training to boost HP/Move retroactively, the best fix for the spells is to have them add to Move and HP through the spell code itself.

So...are there any other CON raising spells out there, besides Trollish Vigor and Righteous Fury?
(Only those listed here will get the additional boost!)
