Dragonbreath vs Containers/Pouches

With the increase in damage from Dragons now able to topple quite a few high level adventurers, I was wondering if we might be able to get rid of the pesky dragon breath that explodes spell pouches and containers. Many people are disinclined or straight up refuse to fight Dragons specifically because they're worried about their containers poofing.
While I agree Dragons are amazingly powerful in D&D, I think this is just one of those little annoyances we really would be better off without.

I agree. It is already quite a traumatic experience when a group of high level adventurers go in and every one is slain by the dragon, but then the problem of having about 200 items spilled out all over the ground where the dragon is does not make it any more appealing to even attempt it. I believe this is one of the biggest reasons why even if the chance did arise to find a group of adventurers willing to attempt, most would still refuse for fear of losing their containers and everything in them.

In so many other situations, containers get special protection against various forms of abuse (for example, you're not supposed to go and pickpocket someone's container). Why they get specially targeted by dragon attacks is completely beyond me. The warrior's sword is untouched, the cleric's armor can get damaged (maybe?), but the wizard's spellpouch goes up as though it's doused in gasoline? And then every person's items goes all over the floor...
These situations are absolutely horrible and, in no way whatsoever, fun. All it takes to understand this position is to, just once, have your spellpouch torched and mixed up with someone else's. You'll be trying to fix it for hours.

Been a while since I took a caster at a dragon, usually take Gilain. I seem to remember this only harms equipped containers, bags Gilain had in his inventory were not destroyed. Am I remembering that right? If so, its an easy defense to the flame. If not, feel free to ignore my poor memory.

Lirith once had a bag in her inventory explode in this exact way, so it doesn'y only affect equipped items.

Dragons can still use their breath to destroy packs completely. I'd still like to see this ability removed as it has no precedent or comparison anywhere else in the game. The fact that we go fight a dragon, but first remove all our packs, scabbards and pouches as a precaution whenever we can spells out that we are aware that there is a huge chance of them being destroyed by targeted magic. I'd really like to see this removed. If it is Hardcode though, I understand the difficulty in getting this done.

Seconded. I've never really backed away from a dragon fight but the prep more than slows the prospect of doing so and doesn't make the experience all too enjoyable.
