Raised dead: mined gems

This topic keeps popping up during playtime and I cannot remember what, if any, the official answer was to the change. So, why not get a thread to refer end the questions.

For the longest time, mined gems worked for 'raise dead' prayers as 'shiny pink gem' substitutes. A while ago, mined gems were bugged and acted like ore. Around the time this bug was fixed, mined gems no longer function as 'shiny pink gem' substitutes.

Now, I remember talking this over with a few folks... but I cannot recall what conclusion we reached. Was this an intentional change to mined gems? For some reason 'raise dead' was too easy to cast or something? Or was this an oversight to the bug-fixing that was knocked to the bottom of the 'to-do' list, since its not overly important?

I am curious, so are some of Gilain's customers, apparently.

That was the original bug that was corrected, yep. That's why I am not sure if the non-component change was intentional or a bug side-effect.

This is almost definitely a bug. It sounds like a part of the gems' 'name' fields are missing, so they no longer correctly work as shiny pink ones.

Ahh, good to know. I hoped it was a bug because I really couldn't think of a reason why making 'raise dead' easier would imbalance the game somehow. :wink:
