The muck-coated ring in what is apparently a new quest in the WD sewers disappears after you clean it, but it is not replaced by a clean ring:

An enormous, mutated rat is DEAD!
You spot a small, dirty ring buried in the debris beside an enormous, mutated rat's corpse.
You get a muck-coated ring from the corpse of an enormous, mutated rat.
You are carrying:
a light grey backpack (perfect)
a electrum coin (superb)
2 silver coins (superb)
5 copper coins (superb)
a muck-coated ring (perfect)
>look ring
A plain gold band. It is covered in muck, but could be easily CLEANed.
>clean
You set about cleaning the muck from the ring.
When you are done, you can make out an inscription inside the band.

You do not see that here.
You are carrying:

You put on a glum expression.

You have found a ring in Waterdeep sewer inscribed with the name 'Gillian'.

Out of interest - were you hidden or in an unlit area when you cleaned the ring? The prog is set to junk the old ring and give you a new one (I could've done it a little more elegantly, it's true!), so I'm wondering if it's the giving part that failed in particular.

I'll do some more strenuous testing after a night's sleep, I think.

This worked for me just this evening. Character was using a light at the time.

I was not hidden and had a light.

Sloppy building on my part, it turns out! It seems a new ring was being loaded prior to the old one being junked - so I'm assuming you ran out of inventory space as a result and couldn't receive the new one when it was offered to you.

I've fixed the order and added a line to drop the ring if all else fails. This bug will be fixed with the next copyover.
