I saw the code update stating that formations now work for aggressive mobs.

I joined Kyrria's group with Tamri. I chose to move to the middle of the formation.

Formation of your group:
Front Rank: Kyrria
Front Rank: Shagel
Front Rank: Tamri

However, it seems like the mobs still attack at random..

You follow Kyrria.

Formations do not make it impossible for you to be attacked in the middle and back ranks (unless you are in the middle rank with a person either side and 2 people behind you - but that would require a bit more work!) - they just make it much more unlikely that you will be attacked.

However, formation code requires the mobs to be set up correctly for them to work. In this case, the goblin you were fighting was not - please post in this thread if you encounter mobs which consistently seem to ignore formations.

The guys in that tomb near Beshaba's Temple (mummies, skeletons, etc.) seemed to ignore formation the other night. We had Althasizor in mid and back rank, and he'd get trained (and subsequently moved to front rank) a lot.

We found a low-level PC was preferentially targeted when it was the only PC in the middle rank of a formation working its way through forgottencrypt.are. Does anyone other than Mask know what magic sauce causes some creatures to ignore formation? Is it a problem endemic to undead? (We had trouble with the mummies, in particular, VNUM 110802.)
