Knights, cavaliers, serjeants and men-at-arms alike take heed!
The Clan of Blackthorn in Tethyr has decided to hold a days worth of lance-games in the form of the ancient melee.
the tourney will consist of three(no more, no less)man squads each to battle each other until a squad is found
to be the victors.
The fighting shall take place on the fields just in sight of Castle Tethyr at the time stated below. No man may enter
combat with any magical aid of any kind save his/her armour and his/her holy symbol. Horses shall be the only steed
permitted in this melee. Fighters may use any range of weapons at their disposal be that lances or swords.
The entry fee for this event is five Tethyrian Daublars(OOC: platinum) to be handed in on at the outset.
Any man may compete so long as he is not an enemy of Tethyr, also he must adhere to the rules of competition
and the rulings and instructions of the Marshal.
Each squad must come ready, formed and well equipped for the fighting ahead
OOC:
Okay this is how it will go.
two squads of three will go up against each other, this is a single elimination tournament. Each bout will follow this trend.
The two sides will be selected
all combatants will go to killmode
spar for the classic clash
your scores will be totalled by the joust scoring system
the squad scoring highest will have the choice on who to attack (so if you want to implement a stategy you will have to win the clash)
the marshal will call "the turn" (traditionally those left standing after the teams first met in the middle would turn quickly and engage after
receiving another lance from a squire)
the fight will begin the last person standing wins it for the squad they belong to.
Each team must come to the event
already formed so make some friends and get some squads together!
Evils will be able to come to this event traditionally in these sorts of things there were two settlements or camps
so we can have an evil camp and a good camp.

The time looks good to me! Thanks for hosting this.
I will not be around too much in game over the next two weeks and so I'll put this here. Please drop me a PM or message via in-game mail system if you are interested in teaming up for this.
A page of foolscap, written upon in a neat hand, is tacked to a few of the Realms' news posts...
I have words to speak with men of good deeds who wish to contest the prize of the recently declared tournament in Tethyr. Repair to me at the Citadel of the Rampant Eagle or send word by courier and I will respond readily. Health to the good, justice to us all after our deeds. For Cormyr.

when you form a squad if you could let me know everyone?
I'd just like to clarify a few more rules for everyone
1. in the clash, horses must be set to nofight
2. in the fight, horses may be set to stun
3. Bashing will be allowed
4. kicking will not be allowed
5. punching will be allowed
6. Stunning will be allowed
7. Disarming has a one time per bout limit for each person
Strategy
Just to clarify what I mean by this, the winner of the clash gets the first attack (the initiative) but there will be a 45 second to 1 minute gap between the clash and the fight in which the squads may group as they choose(each person must be by un-grouped and on spar for the clash, I will call out an order left to right for the squads to line up in and you will attack the person opposite)depending on how you group it may drastically alter the fight.
Each team must elect a squad leader on the day who will choose the groups(backed up by advice from the other team members)after the 45 to one minute gap has ended I will call GROUP NOW and each team must then group exactly as they planned irrespective of ANY OOC grouping echos they see from the other team. The IC reason for the 45 sec to 1 minute pause will be re-arming, team leaders you may give instructions via the tell command but could everyone please remove amulets for the duration.
That is not to say that you must use the 1 minute to make your entire strategy, you may be thinking up strategies to fight each team and give out instructions as you line up or whatever, but the time is there if you need it.

I meant 'this' weekend as in the one quoted. But I'm away for parts of both. Such is the busy social life I lead. Ahem!

May I suggest that disarming
not be allowed? If your lance is, for whatever reason, disarmed.. it's not like you can stop your horse, dismount to retrieve it, then hop back up onto it all while fighting.. Or is that part of the strategy?

a good point, alright....
disarming I have changed to a one time deal per bout, if someone loses a lance then they will have to draw another weapon and it wouldn't be unreasonable to assume that while also having a sword sheathed a combatant may have several other weapons in reach.
also
I require a young man or woman to serve as a Pursuivant on this day, who will be responsible for arms and assisting me
One of the Pursuivant's jobs will be standing ready with several lances, if the opportunity comes up i.e you aren't being attacked then you can call out "Lance!" and he or she will run to you and re-arm you with a lance.
Anyone interested in being Pursuivant then PM me, might suit a younger character.

I'm creating an evil camp to add spice to this. So evils out there, here's your chance!
I, Celdur, a nobleman in the service of her Lady Loviatar, wishes to partake in this formal tourney. However, I require an additional rider with me to be eligible to enter. It will be most pleasant if a skilled combatant could join me. Please contact me, with the magical post, or by the magical amulets, to notify your interest. I will also be around in Waterdeep until the day of the tourney. May your pain strengthen you.

I am very sorry people but something last minute with the family has come up.
I have three options:
1. we postpone it for 2 hours, bringing the start time to 10:00PM UK time today
2. We postpone it for the same time as posted (8PM UK time) but hold it tomorrow.
3. We postpone it and decide on another date entirely.
Again I apologise profusely, family have arrived unexpectedly and it's not really something I can skip out on.
Please reply back ASAP all of you interested as I leave it down to you as to which one we decide.

Don't beat yourself up, brotha.
I think it's fine if we just postpone it for tomorrow or next week? I don't know other people's schedules though.

I might be able to do this second time, as long as I can get home from work in time for it. It shouldn't be a problem, as long as there are no unexpected delays
