It was me, my druid has the Track skill. I saw that a druid of mine has track and checked with another player before linking them. Partially also because I was rather comfy on my sofa in the AC and didn't want to move ;)

I can independently confirm that track is a druid skill (not just available via find the path). It's also a thief skill, so the prerequisites given in the help file are incorrect.

I checked the Player's Handbook, doesn't actually say that druids get track however

In DnD, Track is a feat, so everyone can has track... It is only that Ranger gets it for free.
It's tied to the "survival" skill which is a class skill for both rangers and druids.

If that's the case, what's in it for the ranger who gets it for free as opposed to the druid who doesn't?

I'd move for the creation of an improved track feat in fk and rangers getting it for free upon taking up the guild.

The question is, what would the improved track feat do ? :)

I would suggest a wider range of detection perhaps?

Without this feat, you can use the Survival skill to find tracks, but you can follow them only if the DC for the task is 10 or lower
A quotation from an article on the Track feat, as we already have track as a skill "Improved Track" would give a higher success rate
To find tracks or to follow them for 1 mile requires a successful Survival check.
I guess a wider detection area is also natural

So we have track in for druids to reflect their natural survival skill...and would allow the Improved Track feat to give chance for greater success and to widen the area they can track in?

Whoa, whoa, let's go back to the basics for a second here, first!

Track appears as a skill in the guild list for Rangers (at level 12).

Track appears as a skill in the guild list for Thieves (at level 30).
[Thanks for pointing that out, I'll fix the helpfile!]

It does not appear in the guild list for Druids of Chauntea.
Are there other druid guilds out there? Do all Druids have this as a trainable skill? If so, what level does it show?!?

Mielikki (I think the guild is actually clerics of Mielikki). Not sure what level, maybe 25 ish?

I checked these this morning but haven't been able to post until now.

The guild lists for both clerics of Mielikki (there is no separate guild file for druids of mielikki at the moment) and clerics of Malar both have track at level 26.

Hopefully that clears that bit up?

Thank you, yes! But it raises new questions - why not Druids of Chauntea, and why are priests of Mielliki and Malar called Clerics? Should that be changed? The three seem to have very similar spell/skill lists. (It still doesn't make sense to add Track to the Druid Skills list until the folks who have it are actually classified as Druids!)

The one thing that certainly seems to emerge from this is that priests of Chauntea should have track, no?

Change to Class Name: Yes. Cleric is soo cliche.

Chaunteans getting track: They are druids lite. Some of the more hardliners think of Chaunteans as sell outs. Their dogma is the taming of nature and agriculture, while a big hit amongst the settlements and farm towns, Chaunteans have little to no role outside of civilization. Hence the reason why they are diametrically opposed to Silvanus, who represents the Wild aspect of Nature. For the sake of gameplay though, sure why not. I mean track is not an unbalancing skill as it is anyway.

I think there should be Clerics AND Druids of each nature-type religion.

Druids and Clerics are very different in that Druids get Track, Shapeshift, and can summon things such as Greater Elementals, but pay for it with the Heal spell being higher spell level and not getting domains (nor domain spell slots, for that matter). Druids also get access to less spells than Clerics, also. Druids and Rangers should also get animal companions, but that's a topic that's been raised on various other threads...

Additionally, they're very different play-styles. While a Cleric of Chauntea would be far more comfortable entering a city and enticing people to the faith and debating with the Waterdeep Acting Lords the place of their church within the city, a Druid might be far more uncomfortable doing either.

In D&D, you can be a Druid of Malar or a Priest of Malar. I think it was limited in FK due to current code.. A Priest of Chauntea would automatically become a Druid of Chauntea after being initiated into the church regardless of the Priest's background making her a more suitable Cleric of Chauntea.

I think there should be Clerics AND Druids of each nature-type religion
That would split an already low population even further. It would be counterproductive in the long the run. I think if you want to RP being a cleric do so, but no need for a separate class just for it.

Druid is low population (as a whole) mostly because of the combination of lesser RP opportunities, harder faithing, and gimped class features. I don't feel it has much of anything to do with the faith ethos/history itself.
