Maybe not so much a bug as an inconsistency. When you polymorph into a lion, your armor is automatically removed (presumably except for wear locations that remain the same, i.e. float). When you polymorph into some other creatures (a panther comes to mind), armor is not automatically removed.

Also, some target creatures automatically change your language to Animal (fish comes to mind), while others do not (lion leaves it on Common).

Should these be made consistent? My apologies if I've missed a discussion on this in the forum already.

It looks as though there is a table of allowed targets for this spell, that may need some cleaning up, both with respect to details and whether a given target creature is allowed at all levels after it first becomes available. I'll tackle this once it is confirmed that a previous bug about polymorph not allowing appropriate target creatures is licked. Thanks for the report!
