Not improving at a spell

I just got the "You learn from your success and improve at cure light!" echo, yet my cure light skill is still at inept.

Come to think of it, my other cleric, Amalric of Helm, had the same problem...

This is not a bug.

You're still improving. There are 25 skill levels (0 being no knowledge of spell/skill, 1-2 being inept, 25 being grandmaster). So you likely just improved from inept 1 to inept 2. Your next improvement will likely say "You learn from your success and are now amateur at cure light!"

Also, intelligence plays a role in how quickly you learn a skill/spell. Sometimes, this may add an extra echo before moving on to the next level (e.g. inept -> amateur).

I'll note that in the helpfile tonight when I get back.

Approved, belatedly. The approval database is having trouble, so I apologize that approvals are coming slowly. (It's also the final days of the school term, and I'm choosing sleep over this kind of stuff.)

Thanks for the help edit, Selveem, and for the clear explanation, Athon!

Thank you for taking the time to report this Trillarel, so that we were reminded of it as a common confusion!
