Injured Flying Mount Speed on Land

Post by Lathander » Wed Jul 04, 2012 10:50 pm

While mounted atop a flying mount (m100801) with speed soar I was attacked by a hill gaint. The attack itself seems odd as I was just flying over, but that is not on topic. In the attack, the mount was injured. Afterwards, I ordered the mount to land, which it did. Mstat on the mount showed it was no longer affected by flying. However, the speed stayed at soar. I could order it to fly and then set speed to either fly or soar. I was unable to use speed walk, which is understandable if its legs were too injured, but while on the ground I suspect we do not want it set to speed fly or soar.

Mounts have speeds reflecting their race, when you say speed walk, do you mean gallop or trot, you're usually required to type those in or they set automatically if the mount is walking.

Most land based enemies can attack flying mounts or pc's after around one round to either allow you to vacate the room or stay and fight. Its not a recent change in itself, its been in play since at least late 2008 to stem abuse from flying across the map unperturbed through generally hostile areas.
Justice is not neccesarily honourable, it is a tolerable business, in essence you tolerate honour until it impedes justice, then you do what is right.

Spelling is not necessarily correct :)

Also, please note that the speed value doesn't update until you move, or you set a speed. So even on a PC, if you had a leg lobbed off, you would show speed Walk until you moved and then saw speed limp, I think even on MSTAT.

I will test that next time and see what happens. I did notice that I could order a speed change and see the change on my prompt before the injury but not afterwards.
