FK History

So, I'm working on a project that involves the history of Forgotten Realms (and Forgotten Kingdoms, where it differs). Being as I haven't been around nearly as long as some of the other players, and in theory a lot of time has passed, I'm wondering if there are any events "worthy of the history books". Preferably things that have happened 5 or more years ago RL (Which would equate to 60 years IC).
There may be some books involved. Ultimately, I would like to see a merging of the FK and FR worlds into a combined history, with this project, as well as bringing new players more fully into the FK world, and older players perhaps somewhat more into the FR world. Things like the time of troubles, the spell plague, the fall of Myth Drannor, and other historical events that older players might not know about, but could enhance RP (Those I will work on and research myself mostly, but if you have a favorite bit of FR history you'd like to see included, by all means, let me know!).
I would request that responses be done via PM. There is a reason for this, but not something I want to get into!
Thanks in advance for all contributions. Notice, I probably won't be able to use everything submitted, but I will surely try!
PS. If you know of any books currently IC that correlate to this topic, that would be helpful too, and can be submitted either via PM or in response to this forum. The latter would be quite welcome in this case, as it might spur others to read it as well.
