I've noticed this since the combat overhaul. At certain times, I'll insert the syntax to disarm, but will see nothing happen. Instead of a round going by and attempting a disarm, I'm returned to combat and the disarm never goes through. I just noticed this happen twice in a row and was curious if anyone experienced things similar
Code: Select all
A palace guard's pierce shallowly cuts your abdomen.
You prepare to disarm ...
Your pierce tears a gaping wound into a palace guard's left arm.
Your pierce minces a palace guard's right arm.
A palace guard's severed right arm falls to the ground!
With a sickening sound your pierce violently shreds a palace guard's chest.
You see Corridor.
With a sickening sound your pierce violently shreds a palace guard's chest.
Your pierce tears open a palace guard's abdomen.
You see Corridor.
a palace guard is fairly far east from here.
You prepare to disarm ...
With a sickening sound your pierce violently shreds a palace guard's chest.
A palace guard is stunned, but will probably recover.
You score a critical hit!
Your pierce tears a gaping wound into a palace guard's chest.
A palace guard is DEAD!
You hear a palace guard's death cry.
The "You prepare to disarm..." is followed by nothing but more combat, which to attempt a disarm would normally require a spent round.
Any thoughts or ideas out there?
"He served, but found no pride in service. He fought, but took no joy in victory. He drank, to drown his pain in a sea of wine... ...It was hate that drove him. Though he committed many sins, he never sought forgiveness."

The only times I've seen this is when the mob's arms were too damaged to wield. Based on that, what I saw in testing just now and this report, it likely has something to do with there not being a need to disarm anyway. In the log, the guard's arm was severed, and these mobs left hand a shield so it couldn't rightly re-wield a weapon. I imagine code got confused and went ahead with a combat round. Also, if you type out an action just before the next round begins, a normal combat round will ensue and your action will be carried out on the round after that. It was likely some combination of these two things. It doesn't seem like there's a bug here, so moving to resolved for now if anyone has something to add.
What are you talking about? What, that guy?
That was like that when I got here.

I have seen cases where spells seem to disappear into the ether, never being cast, but there being no failure echo, either. In those cases it might be failed concentration checks that don't produce an echo (especially if one is casting defensively?) but it certainly happens, and with some frequency. I think there is something here, the challenge is putting our finger on exactly what is going on and what causes it. I may not be able to really tackle this until mid-May, I'm sorry to say, but I'm moving it to confirmed for further attention.
