Mass Heal not hurting undead when used offensively

Post by Gwain » Wed Dec 26, 2012 7:24 am

This is a bug I've noticed before but I always forget to report. Apparently Mass Heal heals undead instead of harming them. I've tested it twice and found it restores them to health and did not harm them.

Its very hard to test this in the game because mass healing usually heals them to well, so I can't confirm if this is for all dead. I will say that I saw it significantly heal the vampire in Thesk.
Justice is not neccesarily honourable, it is a tolerable business, in essence you tolerate honour until it impedes justice, then you do what is right.

Spelling is not necessarily correct :)

Confirmed.

Code: Select all

You prepare to cast 'heal' gypsy...
You begin to chant.
A zombie gypsy attacks as you open your guard attempting to cast!
You evade a zombie gypsy's crushing attack.
A symbol of faith glows briefly.
A vial of blessed water glows briefly.
Your touch causes a zombie gypsy to howl in agony, though they seem to choke off the worst of its effects!

Code: Select all

You prepare to cast 'mass heal' gypsy...
You evade a zombie gypsy's crushing attack.
You begin to chant.
A zombie gypsy attacks as you open your guard attempting to cast!
A zombie gypsy's crush deftly crushes your left leg.
A symbol of faith glows briefly.
A vial of blessed water glows briefly.
You channel regenerative positive energy into a zombie gypsy.
What are you talking about? What, that guy?
That was like that when I got here.

d20 would have it work; however, I think hard code needs to be added to make that the case. Currently the cure spells use the flags
GENERIC_SPELL_FLAG_NORMAL 1
and
GENERIC_SPELL_FLAG_UNDEAD 3
to provide the different behaviour on the two groups.

The mass spells use the flag
GENERIC_SPELL_FLAG_MASS
and there is no
GENERIC_SPELL_FLAG_MASS_UNDEAD or the like that would allow for mass and undead differentiation at once.

This is pushing my knowledge of spell code, but I think that's the deal. Short of hard code, should the spell do all its damage on one undead, or the helpfiles be amended to specify that the mass spells do not harm undead?
