This issue has arisen (dropped in?) before. The chance of a horse decorating the road is 1/100 per tic. It appears that this chance is multiplied by the number of people present because horses poop more often with more people present.

I could probably go and change every horse in the game manually to drop fewer poops, but I don't see a lot of bang for the buck in doing that. Manure is a spell component, after all.

There are 220 horses in the game (and that's just the game port), most of which are in separate areas. A little willing suspension of disbelief on players' parts means that I can focus on building new areas, but if people are generally that concerned about this then I can work on a solution at the expense of more interesting projects.

I'm not being glib; I really will spend time on it if there is sufficient interest, but I just don't believe that it's out there.

If I could be permitted perhaps to postulate; it is pertinent that people predominantly find my ponies to be the poopiest possible and it is prevalently perceived as perplexing. At this point I've come to play along with my pony's plentiful poops and am prepared to cope. I no longer think it's worth the time to resolve.

Alliteration is fun when you're bored at work.

edit* I accidentally a word.

I have also noticed a propensity for horses to poop at a higher chance than 1% per tick if there is an evil-aligned PC present - not sure if it has been changed in that last couple of years - and they will sometimes poop when an evil-aligned PC enters the room. Summoned mounts do not seem to poop at all though.
