Death & Nudity

Not sure this is a suggestion, really. But, it could become one if anyone can think of an appropriate resolution.
Waking nude is the strangest side-effect of death. How do we go about explaining this ICly? Do priests strip us before they raise us? I hope not! Do we ignore it?
Perhaps there is a way that when raised, the system forces a 'wear all' so we can avoid this embarrassing and confusing little turn of events?

The most common IC explanation I have heard for this is that raising a corpse requires removing its clothing first. As far as I know, this is a house rule which does not exist in tabletop
There was a discussion about this (though I can't seem to find it now) relating specifically to concealed holy symbols: can someone look in your corpse or inventory and ICly see your symbol because you aren't wearing it, or is 'wear'ing your kit after death an OOC mechanical action that should be ignored?
I personally tend to RP this as being raised ICly naked (because it's what the code says... so...), but I prefer not to make a big thing out of it. While Tamryn would be quite happy to walk around completely naked (and probably not even notice), I don't particularly relish having to go through the exact same RP every time Tess dies if I'm going to do it properly. Especially since there always seems to be about 10 people in the room when she gets raised.
It would be best, IMHO, if the MUD raised you with your kit already worn, but since corpses can't wear armour, this would require additional hard code to 'remember' how you were wearing it.
Edit: some previous discussion on this was
here, but with no clear resolution.

I would imagine the process of raising a dead person needs some preparation of the body, i.e. a ritual cleaning/washing of the body and the application of anointing oil afterwards etc., activities requiring a removal of clothes/equipment.

It would depend on the faith, I'd think - a Lathanderite or Kelemvorite might go for the anointing oils and such, while another faith might not. Raise dead doesn't require armor to be removed to function, and I'd think the only place you'd run into it would be a ceremonial raising, or retrieving a body from the conservatory. As such I've always considered it to be a choice. If you want to rp being raised naked, you can, and if you want to rp that you were raised wearing your armor, and just 'wear all' as soon as you're raised, that's fine too. This is just my personal opinion, however, and if there's a staff policy one way or the other, then I'd like to know.
Edit: As for concealed holy symbols, they'd certainly be able to find it and see it if they were curious. You're dead, after all, and can't stop them from looking.

I tend to just ignore it if no one mentions it, we're all naked under our clothes.

Ignore - seems like a code side effect that isn't particularly necessary.

I just checked and this was always supposed to leave you 'clothed', so I just fixed the bug that was preventing it from working.

O.O Wow. I'd never thought it was a bug. Awesome work Mask!

I just noticed a slight problem with automatically wearing whatever is in one's inventory upon being raised. There is one case of a supplication object being expended when worn without a certain other supplication object equipped.
It is possible to equip the first object with the second one already equipped, and then taking off the second one to leave only the first.
What I learned today, though, was that when one is raised from the dead and everything in the inventory is automatically equipped, there is no chance to take precaution, and the supplication object is lost.
Perhaps there could be an option to turn this function on or off.
I hope this is not too complex!
tl;dr: due to some considerations, it might be better not to have everything in the inventory be automatically equipped.

A possible workaround might be to drop the items on the ground, and then pick them back up in the order you'd want them worn. I did this with my character's armor and under clothing and it worked. I had bought the armor before I bought the under clothing so when I was raised it was putting on the armor first and leaving the under clothing in my inventory. I removed everything that was having a conflict, dropped it all on the ground, picked up and wore the under clothing, then picked up and wore the armor. When I have been raised since then, it wears everything properly.
I hope I explained that well enough, and that it might work at least as a temporary measure.

Okay, but I'm talking about a situation where you need to be wearing item A when equipping item B in order that item B is not destroyed, but after having equipped item B you can put item A away wherever you like. So you won't necessarily be having it around.
Hm. This was a much simpler explanation.

Ah, ok. I had misunderstood the original problem I guess. Sorry about that!

Tortus: please PM me about the specific objects? Thanks.
