Restoration not restoring lost levels

Alright. I was level 20, and accidentally ventured into the carnival grounds from the sewers in Westgate.
I lost 4 levels, to become level 16, and got away. I immediately returned to Waterdeep, after having to log off for 20 minutes. A total of about 80 minutes had passed before a level 50 character cast 4 restorations on me. It stopped working after 2 levels were back.
This appears to be contrary to what is supposed to happen, since one day hadn't even passed.

It must be done within 1 real life hour. Im not sure if time offline counts toward this time limit. I found this out after having a similar situation, where I lost 16 levels, dropping me back to 21. I was able to get a handful of them restored within that 1 hour limit. Attempts after were unsuccessful.

I have noticed that this is hit or miss, I was able to help restore several levels to a character in past, but yet yesterday I wasn't able to even restore one level with in ten minutes of the PC dying and being raised.

I had this happen to Kaden as well, Luckily it was only one level. But I immediately cast restoration on myself about 4 times and it did not give me my level back.

That would be another bug - the first level you lose, whether a single level or multiple, cannot be restored.

It looks as though this is the case with vampires like
(4403) A vampire squire grins viciously.
who have energy drain as part of their fight program. I do not observe it when a PC casts either energy drain or enervation - those levels can all be restored with enough haste and skill. This difference may be intentional, I don't know.
Separately, I am seeing a !Restoration! wearoff echo with a 1 round delay, and can not cast another restoration instance for one round. (I get "Sonso resists the effect of your spell.") I think this is required to neutralize poison properly.
I will look into this further - alas, I don't know the inner workings of the fight programs used by vampires and the like.

I had a couple levels drained by enervation in a spar. I stopped the fight immediately, and we cast restoration. Even though it was immediately after, the last level was unable to be restored. An imm tried at that point, repeatedly affecting me with restoration, and they were unable to restore it either.

Hmmm. Ok, that would definitely be a bug. I don't really understand how the game knows what level to bring you back up to, so it's hard for me to track what could be causing this. But I'll try some more extensive testing on the testport, now that I have a concrete case to try to reproduce. Thanks!

In D&D, rather than losing levels, you "gain" negative levels, which are counted separately. So restoration would just remove the negative levels.
I don't know if that's how it works in FK, though.

I'm still testing on the PvP front, and haven't managed confirmation of that yet, but I have seen some strange numbers:
old exp is 117793473, old exp lost is 0, new exp is 1325999, new exp lost is 116467474, diff is -116467474
In FK the game keeps track of experience lost, and it looks like in some cases that calculation gets messed up. But in this case, at least, it didn't prevent restoration of the impacted target back to exactly where they started.
All the oddities I've observed have been on level 50 PCs - is that the case with your impacted player as well?
