Gate of Orc Camp Locked

Hi!
It seems the gate of the Orc Camp has become locked, and refuses to open.
Normally you say 'yes' and the guard unlocks the door, but now the guard doesn't open the door. We were testing it with Nakoma, and after she cast knock, it would open for a minute, but then get locked again and refuse to open.
Apparently, there had been some crash earlier which may have been the cause.

I haven't confirmed this is broken on the game port (I don't have an orc char) but there have been several reports of it from different players so it's safe to treat it as confirmed.
It seems to work fine on the test port, but there is something odd about the room: when standing there and 'look'ing as an orc mortal, the gate guard, my imm char and my other mortal test char (also in the room) randomly disappear or reappear on each look, or else show as 'Someone' rather than what they should be, or are visible in the room but 'Someone' on VT, etc. 'look'ing as a non-orc mortal works fine.
I don't know if that's related to why it's broken on the game port.

That would actually be related to orcs as a race. That behavior is what you see if you don't have the 'daylight adaption' feat.

Kinni may have stolen his key and so he had nothing to unlock the gate with. OOPS! Sorry.

Hehe, that's because orcs require daylight adaptation to see properly outdoors.

Try giving your test characters Day light adaptation feat Tamryn if they do not have it. It helps alot with the orc camp and seeing things.

When I had redone orcvill.are, and put a working gate back in the camp, my original speech_prog for "yes" would mpinvoke the key, unlock the gate, then mppurge the key, so stealing a key wouldn't have been a problem (really, from an IC perspective, it's not feasible that huge double gates would be locked/unlocked with a key anyway). I did double check my old flat file for the area and that prog. So apparently, at some point since my days as builder admin, someone has come behind and changed it to make it a steal-able key.
Far be it from me to dictate what should and should not be possible in areas anymore - but if the key is on the orc and available to be stolen, then someone who still has powers of building needs to change the mprog to add in a hasobjnum check on $i, and mpinvoke the key if it's not present.

Sorry for the day's delay on this. Yesterday was Mrs. Harroghty's birthday.
I rewrote the programs for the guard (m2800) to preclude these kinds of issues in the future. I also changed the room "Outside a wooden gate" to SECT_CITY, vice SECT_ROAD (adding perma light). The guard should be harder to prevent from his duties a little bit less welcoming for certain groups.
