Character Creation Dagger

When I was making a new half orc cleric I selected dagger as his weapon proficiency and when I tried to equip the item I was given this echo:

A straight dagger is too small for you to wield it.

An exam dagger showed this:

It is small in size and would fit any body type.
This dagger is about as long as a man's forearm and its long
blade is stiff with a sturdy spine. It has a fuller down it
only, it seems, for show and this dagger would be useful for
prying as well as stabbing.

Entering the newbie zone and going through the tutorials I was able to purchase a dagger from the weaponsmith and it was size medium and useable.
