Buying or training from allied temples

Given that some faiths have been well entrenched and thus staffed/written for, I am suggesting that other allied/like aligned faiths be allowed to study with trainers or buy mundane things from vendors. I know that cults of personality can develop around this because they have staff directly assigned to them or faith managers. Perhaps this can be allowed at additional cost and/or favor?

Generally when a vendor or trainer is meant for only that faith, it will either be in a restricted section or have a program to limit it to only members of that faith. In other words, if you can buy/train from that mob, and it's IC for you to do so, i.e. not enemy faith/align, then it's perfectly acceptable to do so.

The way I see it, there are two reasons for restricting items like these to members of a faith, the first is to give incentive for others to join the faith to gain the items themselves, the second is to reward faithful for joining an exclusive organization.

I'm bias... Mystra's temple has a potion carrying case and it is faith restricted. It is the only container "designed" around potions that I know of. Yeah, it is just a renamed bag, but still... bugged me, and my brewers, for years.

I'm of the mind that I don't like everything being made available to everyone. Just adds a little something to have something that you will not see on every character in game.
Most temples have places and things that are open to everyone as well as places and things that are faith restricted.
If you feel that there is something that is missing that you would feel would be useful to the player base as a whole, why not post a suggestion and see if we cannot have it added somewhere in game?
Not to pick just on Nysan, but for instance if you want a potion case you could
1) have one of your existing items renamed for glory
2) suggest a basic potion case to be added to the game.
I would be for either of those options before opening up items that are restricted to everyone.

I don't mind picking. I can take it, hehe.
I also agree there should be "members only" benefits within faiths, all faiths. The potion case is just a minor thing that rubbed me the wrong way for years, making me bias anytime this kind of topic comes up. Not such a big issue in recent days, with renames and such as options, more like an old wound that never healed right. In short, just ignore me. lol

Regarding items, I am referring to mundane things aka junk items. A potion case is not a mundane item. I also would not expect a character to be blinged out in another faith's clothing. I would give the whole "not giving access to everyone" more of a belief if the bulk of the player base doesn't have simultaneous alts that they play wherein there is item hoarding. I'm all for interacting with the playerbase. Unless it's the intention that certain faiths are preferred over others because of being written for and/or staffed, then this point is moot. Ignore the remainder of my post.
I'm not calling slights but my character's faith is barely supported, even though it's the main faith for a major FR race. Her profession is not anathema to her faith. I would daresay there's nothing exclusive to her faith or race even though her race and faith is well immersed in magic. It's insanely ooc for her find skills, spells and materials in places like skullport and westgate or any of the temple of dark gods. And chumming with a dark-faith character seems like it's asking for godly smiting. I'm also not talking about advanced spells or highly used and abused spells (ie: teleport and dimension door) being given willy nilly. I almost understand why there's not as much incentive to play races and faiths according to FR lore.

I'm lost. What faith are we talking about?

Unfortunately there are faiths like that. We simply don't have enough staff, builders, and player base to fill and flesh out all faiths and temples. Thus, the more popular faiths and temples get a much larger share of the attention.

You don't have to chum it up with the evils, or head into Menzo/Skullport for things. There might be some goodies that have access to these things, and are willing to sell. Make use of the post boards around the Realms, and let others know what you are seeking. You might have to spend some coin, but there is nothing wrong with that. I find this a better option than just opening up mundane items, or temples for people to run through.

Some skills/spells/feats are part of the character journey, exploring and interacting with the world leads to unlocking things harder to find. I like this set up, that some things are rarer and harder to obtain. That being said, general skills and trainers should be available to everyone, and I've certainly made some effort to cover a lot of these gaps. (I was always jealous of Kelemvorite paraphernalia myself, I will keep in mind adding in a public potion case.) This suggestion seems a bit too broad, can you think of specific examples or a narrower focus for gear/trainers?

For what it's worth, I am open to specific suggestions for changes. The Halls of Justice in Waterdeep, for example, has some vendors who will sell to Tyrrans, Tormish, Ilmateri, squires, and paladins, but then some others who will only sell to Tyrrans - based upon the objects in question. This is also reasonable in some other temples, I think.
