I just bought a set of the half-plate armor from the Temple Armory in Everdusk Hall in Silverymoon. The armor pieces are as below:

I admit I'm not extremely familiar with the rules of 3.x but basing it off of the armor table at http://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/SRD:Armor half-plate armor should give an armor class bonus of +7. This armor in question appears to only be giving an AC bonus of +6. The section of my score sheet, while wearing nothing but the armor in question is below:

Though some places will always be better at making armour than others. Quality will vary between different pieces.
