Tone down the extreme weather?

It sleets more often in this world than in the real world. =) Half the time it feels like it is foul weather. =)

So often I find myself and others simply ignoring the foul weather as it steps in and is frequently interrupting good RP that is occurring outdoors.

The west coast (Waterdeep and the surrounds) is famed for its terrible weather.

And claims a rather peculiar and morose band of Umberlants who practice their "Art" quite often.

Little band you might not of heard of called the Grateful Drowned, though not as well regarded as Mistcap.

Though, I think this probably has more to do with the rapidity of in-game seasons. In the worst part of winter, it will storm pretty much all the time. So it will cycle to this quite often.

I actually have thought the weather needs a little love for a long time. But I think the problem doesnt lay in frequency, but speed between changes. Seems to me is goes from "Not a cloud" to "OMG-Sleethailsnowhellfire" in about 2-3 minutes. I know it's trying to follow in-game time...but if we increased the amount of time it spends on intermediary weather bits...I think it would -feel- more organic. Plus slowing the system down a little might also make the control weather a little more worth it. ;-)

I hadn't considered the impact of evil PCs being involved in the frequency. Though I'm not always around Waterdeep.

Weather is determined by zones or something right?

From my own experiements with control weather, you can bring out the sun in your room, and then walk one room away and it is storming there. I dont think that control weather is causing the almost always cloudy or raining weather we have in FK.

I only really noticed this because one of my characters has a travel spell that only works in good weather and he has never been able to actually use it.
