Add bones to civilians as a drop

Give something for the evil to brag about when they kill an entire village.
Right now, if a group of evil characters go to town, killing everyone in a village... there is no sign of their attack 10 minutes later.
Perhaps have it as a flag that can be turned on/off during events.

IMHO, what would be perfect (to me)is a config that you can set temporarily. Something like Config+bones, which would automatically shut off when you quit. And while it's on, everything you killed would leave "bones" or some sort of evidence of death from everything you kill while active. These items, left on the ground would decay at about the same rate as a PC corpse, and be subject to spells like preservation.

The alternate to all this work, is those wanting to play evil characters "killing off" a village, should do a little work prior to their escapades.
Harvest some bones from the various skeleton mobs all over the game. Then leave them around the places where they did their dirty deeds.
I say this all, because last night there was an evil event and the whole thing was a little cheapened. The good guys conducted an investigation into what all was done... we found little evidence of anything... but some hints that something happened.... but not to what extent.
Then when we meet the evil guys, they could essentially make any claim they wanted... cause nothing could be verified. =)

The problems with events like the one you posted about, Wenin, are that the people who set them up have very restricted and limited ability to bring that amount of life to the game. As the perpetrator of the evil side of that very RP, I had very little to work with and we used what was available to us at the time. I was unable to load MOBs, items, or know exactly what was happening from the "good" side of the RP seeing as I could only see a very small portion of what was happening (the "evil" side of the RP).
The bright side to this is that on most occasions, when you're getting an awesome Story RP with global/area echoes, MOBs coming to life, etc., you're getting this story RP from an IMM with the ability to load in MOBs and items while still being able to oversee the RP from all aspects (watching multiple rooms at once, for example). Not everyone has that ability.
While I would have loved to have made this RP event a full-blown MUD-wide Story RP with MOBs, items, and the ability to watch both sides so I knew what was happening (are there goodies rushing to the rescue? Are they assembling in Waterdeep? Are they checking out each different location we just burned to ash?), I am and was frankly unable.
We did our best to do what we could with what was made available to us. We gave a solid shot at echoing about a few different places that were being "raided", gave ample time (about 45-60 minutes) for goodies to assemble and try and figure out exactly what was happening, and we *did* get some turnout from the other side of the spectrum. Unfortunately, the only run-in we had with any "goodies" was one person walking in, emoting once (that they were fleeing into the bushes aside the road), followed by a hide/sneak off outside the room. This didn't give us much room to RP with, and we were hamstringed by the lack of playerbase online at the time (not a gripe, just that there were probably 7 people online who *weren't* already part of the faith gathering going on at the time).
I personally think the story RP went just fine - it gives goodies something to talk about, leaves room for new RPs to spring up, and allows folks the chance for future opportunities along the same vein.
Secondly, the faith event that I hosted yesterday started with 2 people. TWO. After this little story event went down, our group went from TWO (faithful) to SEVEN (four hopefuls and another faithful hopping on).
I see nothing but success and opportunity from the RP that occurred. In the future, yes, it would be wise to have some pre-conceived plan of attack, so to speak. Bones, huge fires instead of little ones, MOBs loaded in. It's just that some of the code-side of things are beyond the control of some of those involved. Sorry you didn't get the chance to figure out the RP in its entirety, but use this as a learning opportunity for future events and I'll do the same.
Thanks

Aldren,
I was that "goodie" that initially showed up. So let me render our side of things, as I really do think this is a really teachable moment.
1. From my side, I had no idea who was running the event, so no way to know how extensive the event was. I was dreaming up finding the Border Forest on fire.
2. I saw two messages regarding the events.
a. First was that Cyricists were gathering for a faith event. I was thinking "Great for them, I wonder if I could somehow be involved.... naw... i'll leave them be."
b. Short time later, Echo about Fires and villages being attacked. "Ok, let's get going!" Check the Who List, saw really no one online that I could tap to join me. So I headed out there on my own. Interestingly, enroute, I encountered someone else that I didn't know, hiding on the road going from Waterdeep to Cormyr. I tried to "follow" them, but that wasn't really working, but delayed me getting to the Dalesland.
c. Side note, trying to track someone that is invisible is either really really hard, or impossible. Perhaps that should be a suggestion in itself. Hiding shouldn't hide someone from the Track ability. Fly should hide someone from the Track command.
3. I arrived in the Dales, running smack dab into two "bad guys", having investigated nothing.
a. No way would my character confront two unknown individuals after having investigated nothing. Can't accuse someone of crimes that you don't know if they happened or not.
b. So I was going to dash into the trees, to try and "observe" allowing the bad guys to RP being bad guys. Didn't know if you guys wanted to be in the road torturing villagers (mobs don't have to be present). The reaction was cast "See Invisibility" and search for the goodie. Well back to the first issue.
c. Off to investigate.
1. Checked Border Forest - No signs of fire (charcoal would have been a nice touch)
2. Checked Centaur village, signs of them having been killed
2. Another PC came online, that I knew, so I reached out to him at the same time he reached out to me.
3. Together we returned to where you guys were, but you had left.
4. Investigated the nearby village, some signs of there having been an attack. (FYI the piles of copper were GREAT indicators! Cudos!)
5. Went back to the Ranger Glade in the village, found no signs of an attack.
6. Checked Shadowdale, no signs of an attack.
7. I happened to try a track on one of you, and I got a reading. We followed it to Zhentil Keep.... I actually cautioned my partner from entering. ICly, it would have been INSANE to enter the Keep. LOL But he wanted to, so we came up with a plan to track the two I saw into the city, and see if they were hanging out in a bar. Instead we find like 6-7 of you guys! LOL We were discussing what to do next, when you guys met up with us on the street.
I don't know the time between when you guys started attacking settlements and doing the "fires" in the Border Forest and the time the echo went out, but it didn't seem like much time (Edit: between me getting the echo and getting to the Dales, so to me it seemed you guys were in and out pretty quick, if the echo went out when you started the attacks). If they were at all near each other, it didn't seem to me that the group lingered long in each of the locations you guys attacked. We also had a lot of areas to check, and after arriving in the Dales, my character wasn't looking to go running from place to place. I was moving carefully, and once I had a partner, we were RPing the investigation.
So that's the _other_ side of the story.
Congrats on your successful Faith event though. =)
I had fun, though I'm still needing to write a slew of letters to other characters to report what occurred. =) Not sure if I'll have time for that, as my weekend is pretty busy.
