The Faith Manager Challenge

Happy June! This month I am going to present a challenge to the playerbase on the whole. This will last until July first.

The Challenge:

Do you think you have a character that could be a faith manager to one of our faiths that lack one? I invite you to prove to us that you have the time, energy and motivation to do so!

I will give the playerbase one month, from today until July 1 to prove their ability.

How do you prove your ability?

- Run faith events!
A faith event could be just for the faith or it could be an event that welcomes the entire mud but promotes some aspect of the faith. A good example is the Safe Day celebrations being held by the halfling community!

- Be an active member of the game!
I ask for a minimum of five hours a week from a faith manager. This means at least twenty hours a month - but this doesn't include your alts, right? So for this, I would like a minimum of fifty hours. That is less than two hours a day on the game. I understand this game is a hobby, but faith administration is a job!

- Actively roleplay properly to the dogma of your deity.
This is pretty self explanatory - don't be an Ilmateran who revels in going out to fight orcs just because you want the taste of blood on your sword, for example.

What do you need to have?

A symbol of the faith.
No strikes or recent approaches in rule breaking.

Surprise! That's it - this really is a huge opportunity. No hour or level requirement. But you'll need to step it up as the alt this month!

What happens after people earn the positions this month?

I will give all of the faith managers, new and old three months to keep it up. To help FK have things going on that are fun and inviting, to be more than people who offer a quest.

What do I want from the playerbase?

Your input! I can't do this without it. Please do not be shy - PM me. You think someone would be motivated to be a FM if given the opportunity? Tell me! Someone roleplaying well around you? Tell me! This game is all of ours, and as such I am giving everyone the opportunity to have a voice. But please keep said voice to PMs. ;)

What faiths are available?

Please note: I do not make choices for Tempus' faith - he is hands on with his own faith and will choose his own faith manager.

Otherwise every single faith is open. Faiths with a manger? Yes - but do you see that manager active and holding events and such? It's probably not going to do you any good to shoot for their position!

Why am I doing this?

Sometimes we have a desire to do something, but may feel overwhelmed trying to meet some unstated requirements. In this case, hours and levels. While it does take hours to usually prove yourself in roleplay, I am hoping that the opportunity will be more motivation when a requirement is taken from the situation! I believe we have undiscovered gems who just need a nudge.

What is the most important thing to do in all of this?

HAVE FUN!!

Additional note:

For this challenge if you have a faith manager please focus on that current manager. I am not opposed to players having more than one but for this I would like the opportunities open to those with zero!

It is! I was going to wait but that's well enough! Congratulations!

The clouds part slightly and a thin sliver of the moon is visible, casting its narrow radiance through the gap.
Motes of silver light sparkle in that narrow beam of moonlight, catching your eye with their splendor.
Annette shifts in her meditative stance to bask in the moonlight.
The motes break free of the beam of light and begin to dance around you in a dense cloud of wondrous light...
Annette lifts a hand in the air, cupping under a single mote with a bright smile.
...their soft chimes, at first barely audible, rise slightly...
...and, finally, seem to speak, saying, "Be a guide by day for those who are lost, that they might find the moon, and thus a new dawn..'
Annette bows her head humbly, mouth agape but no words.
The motes fade and the clouds again swallow up the light ...the clouds darken the sky.

A column of golden light parts from the clouds above.
Formyndare blinks.
Formyndare stares upward in awe.
A small shield slowly descends from the sky in the column..
A female voice speaks, 'Lead all my children, keep them fed. Keep them warm and keep them happy.'
Formyndare falls to his knees, and bows his head. 'I will do everything in my power to make it so.'.
Formyndare kneels down.
Blessings of food fill tables all through the realms!
Formyndare smiles widely, wiping a tear from his eye. 'Thank you, Protector and Provider. I will not fail you.'.
Formyndare holds the shield out at arms length and admires it, smiling with pride.
The column fades the words, 'I know you will...' on the wind..
Formyndare pushes himself to his feet, beaming with immense pride. He looks around and nods. 'I won't fail you.'.

So far I am very proud of my current faith managers and the effort put forth by my four(!) new ones! Keep it going, guys!

Thanks! I'm pretty excited to step up to face this challenge. You did leave out the part where you gave Formyndare a sex change :)

The faith manager challenge is officially over! Congratulations to all of the new faith managers made in not just last month, but the month before as I had been basically challenging since then!

We officially have twenty four faith managers of thirty two faiths! So many events last month! I am very proud of my active faith managers!

Now remember, the next three months are a period where you need to step it up and keep this behavior going. I will remove faith managers who do not keep up the very small requirements I have listed!

Have fun, and keep up the hard work!

Thanks for having it! All of the events were a lot of fun, and it was a blast running one too.

I'd like to extend a heartfelt public thank you to the player of Halestia.

Halestia was the faith manager of Chauntea for a few years now, and though Chauntea is not a wildly popular faith she did well with the bouts of activity the faith did have. Thanks to her agriculture knowledge from botany classes IRL, she would always spout off about it as her character and it was impressive for the Chauntean FM to know so much!

She has moved on from this alt, and responsibly and respectfully decided to step down.

So, Thank you Halestia, for your hard work as Chauntea's faith manager, and your devotion to roleplaying the dogma so well! It was a little charm not everyone got to see, but I know fellow Chaunteans appreciated that! I look forward to any potential FM's in your future to run their faiths and roleplay their dogma just as well!

Chauntea's FM slot has big shoes to fill! :)

Thank you, Mele, for the wonderful time I had on Hale, and the few years of watching the Chauntean faith guiding those who joined through it. It was a great pleasure to serve for so long, and I look forward to new adventures, but also to see who else steps up to take the reins.

Snuck in a last minute addition before the month is over! Congratulations to our new Glitterbright!

September is almost done! Did you meet the above quoted circumstances of the challenge?

It's that time again!

Are you actively playing your faith manager? No? Up the play or PM me to step down with no strings or hard feelings!

Do you know someone who COULD fm? PM me!

Recently returned and want a slot back? If you're ALREADY ACTIVE on the alt, PM me!

It has been a week and I have not received PM's - if you have been excessively inactive please know we part on good terms, and you have potential for future faith managers if it becomes appropriate.

2.5 months since my last post.

Are you playing your FM? Is there someone else who roleplays well and is in the faith more active than you? You may be swapped out to give someone else a chance, and you a break. In general I have been patient about the lack of activity on some of my faith managers because of the overall activity of their accounts, but if someone else comes along that can take the slot while you're doing other things, please be aware I will allow them their chance. This is a standard even my own alts are held under, and does not reflect on your own opportunities for other faith managers immediately or in the future.

The post isn't very clear- it's only coded deities that are up for grabs to become FMs for, correct?

Yes. If you follow an uncoded deity, you do not receive the perks of a coded one. This includes, rising in rank of your chosen faith. That information is covered in the helpfile of uncoded deities.

It's that time again! Goodness! I have been doing this for a year now! Below I have quoted my original post making an edit for it to be appropriate for RIGHT NOW. Please read again, and have fun!

Lolth
Kelemvor
Waukeen
Garl
Ilmater
Yondalla

It's probably not going to do you any good to shoot for their position! A faith manager who rarely logs? With activity and devotion you might be a better chance for the faith!

List updated. One down, one added.

FWIW: People sometimes PM me to outright ask for the opportunity. I do not always say yes - activity of the player pending - but maybe it is worth a shot? :)
