(Stamped vellum messages begin to appear in Fighters' Guilds around the world - From Waterdeep to Zhentil Keep, Golden Oaks and Skullport.)

In one month's time, the Gilded Lance, Westgate's premiere academy, will be home to a tournament of skill and arms. To personify the role of a fighter and gather like minds together to sharpen our abilities, the Banelord Nerian Xavril hereby requests any able fighter, regardless of faith or jurisdiction, meet within the Gilded Lance with brothers and sisters of the blade to decide which is capable above all others. Though he will not compete in the competition, the winner shall be granted, amongst other things, the opportunity of an exhibition match against the Banelord.

Note below for requirements/expectations of this tournament:

- Must be a member of the fighter's guild
- 10 platinum entrance fee, to be paid in advance or at the gate
- 2 rounds each of spar, fight to submission (stun)
- All weapons/armor/trinkets allowed
- No potions/magic/healing allowed during matches
- Healing will be provided between matches

Interested bards should contact Nerian Xavril, by post or otherwise, to secure place of paid herald for the extent of the tournament.

Interested fighters should contact Nerian Xavril to be added to the roster of fighters. Final bracket will be constructed at start of games and will be a single-elimination tournament with the chance of a loser's bracket (time allowing).

Prizes as follows:

GRAND PRIZE (1st place):
*Sponsorship into veteran status of the Gilded Lance (bypassing any previous requirements)
*Purse of 250 platinum
*Your choice of one enchanted weapon

RUNNERS' UP (2nd place)
*Purse of 100 platinum
*Your choice of one enchanted weapon

FAILURE'S PRIZE (Loser's bracket, if applicable)
*Purse of 50 platinum

(Tournament is proposed to happen at this time, unless an overwhelming majority cannot make it)

Ten day notice for this event. I still have not had a herald commit nor more than one interested party for this event. I think the reward is pretty good and since no one has to fight Nerian, I suggest any interested fighters jump at the chance to win some pretty sweet prizes.

Harroghty's not fighting either, I think that this has good potential to be a break-out event for a new (or newer) fighter.

Makes me wish I had a fighter! This sounds like a great event! I hope that you get a ton of responses over the next few days, mate. :-)

There are political and faith based issues due to who is sponsoring and the powers that be made that known real quick. That may be part of the reason why participation is low for something that would have been a lot of fun.

Ah my fighter is still rather weak, so I'm not sure if she should be a part of this. I guess rp wise she should at least be there thiugh since she is a member of the Academy^^

I agree - I will be there healing because I do not have the moral obligation Harroghty has! Hoho! ;)

Will this even be open to Drow as well?

As for drow attending, I see no reason why not, given all the normal stipulations involved with heading to the surface. Normally the Gilded Lance is closed off to all non-members, I will see what can be done to alleviate the issue for the event.

Thanks to everybody that showed up (20 at one point!). After *lots* of matches (and a loser's bracket), the tournament ended as follows:

Winner:
Diritas Marshall

Runner-Up:
Cahir Kerrigan

Winner of Loser's Bracket:
Fentryl Armgo

I am extremely, extremely, extremely pleased to see some amazing RP and a great number of fighters show up to give it a go! Thank you to the 12 contestants we had, the 20-odd people who showed up, the IMM(s) who provided a little flavor to the arena, and everybody on FK for making events like this worth the 5 hours it took to complete (and didn't even get to fight in  )

Anyway, thanks for hosting and thanks to everybody for the rp!
