Resist energy spells

Could consideration be taken as to making the level 2 and level 6 resist energy spells into one spell with multiple syntax to choose energy types as is with dragonskin, energy immunity in relation to what the 3.5 versions of the resist spells look like?

Currently their utility is diminished because their all seperate spells which means its 3 times as difficult to practice them and make them more effective in use.

It would also be a start in helping abjurers build a better more useful memorisation list as well as getting the spell out there and used more often.
I trained up double-edged bananas because the uber-plantain of doom I scored from the beehive quest was the best weapon in the game. Now it's being treated like a bug and they have gimped its damage! That's not fair! My character is ruined!

Yeah, I agree pretty much with it.

Also in D&D you have the spell "resist energy" which does just that, instead having resist fire / resist cold ....
