Player journals

I have been digging through some of my old logs (been away for a bit and my apologies) and I have learned that I have alot of lorish, songs, tales and other materials. At the moment, I am taking advantage of the in-game note/write system and writing my stuff on individual pieces of parchment. Within a few days, I think this is going to become cumbersome. Since I have never published anything, I'm not certain I want to go the make a published book route just yet. Is it possible to have a journal, something that a character can open, write on pages, flip pages? I don't know if this has been suggested in previous threads. Thanks!

There is an item called "adventurer's journal" in game, but it is a kind of questlog.

That object just mirrors your qlog.

It seems a player friendly version of writing a book should be possible. Perhaps the next zone built's builde should consider the project. Would be useful since currently the player published books in game are just really long parchments in effect.

Should is a dangerous word, as my boss many years ago was wont to say.

There really isn't a good way for a single object to have multiple pages. An option might be a small container which could create and retain parchments.

I had an inkling that since the code for writing a book is available in the publication post that there would be a way of giving players an object that did this live in the game and let you delete pages and add them at one's leisure?

It wouldn't need to actually be able to flip / turn pages as long as it could store input in a sectional manner so you weren't carrying around hundreds of pages in a restrung bandolier on your belt.

With that said, I'd happily take a restrung belt bandolier to store hundreds of pages into if someone wanted to include that. Typing get 101 folio, l 101 isn't really a nightmare cenario.

It's a question of what it does really. Can you make multiple entries using the writing buffer in a single object? No.

Can you make multiple extra descriptions on a single object? Sure, but without any ability to format them, edit them, etc.

I think that latter version would actually be realistic to the setting. Afterall, you cannot edit parchment. all you can do is delete it, ergo, tare it out and throw it away.

As for formatting well. That only bothers you sighted people.

I'd suggest click and dragging your output window in your client so it's the right width. Should give a fairly nice visual barrier as to what and where lines should end

I suspect it would take some experimenting though.
