It has come to my attention a couple of times now that Nixa is "not wearing anything on her lower half". However, she wears a gown on her body. A gown is a floor length garment that would cover both her body and her legs; however, here it only covers the body.
Is it possible for gowns to be broken up into two articles of clothing? The bodice and the dress? For those of us who have a "fashion" OCD (like Nixa)... I really do not want to wear a gown that is dark red (covering my body), and then try to find a skirt that is a bright red - especially since the merchant selling me the gown does not sell the skirt.
Some might say "Wear leggings" or "Wear pantaloons". And my response to you is "How many women do you know that wear pants underneath their gowns?"
Unfortunately, I do not know the amount of time or effort I am asking to "fix" something that probably not everyone uses. But I figure I would make a post and see where it goes from here.

I do not think it is possible to break up gowns due to their wear location usually set to the body and the game not really making
any differences between types of clothing, i.e. there are no categories such as gowns, robes, tunics etc.etc. The game only makes
differences between the WEAR_XYZ locations. It could be worked around by basically creating two items, bodice with wear location
body and skirt with wear location legs, but this is something builders would have to do in areas/when adding objects or when they
are updating existing things, though instead of the one vnum that a gown now mostly is, it would require two vnums.

I'm in complete agreement with Larethiel there. Though there is a way to code gowns and dresses to work like hooded cloaks, meaning you put one part on, then the code let's you pull down another part or wear another part on your body.
Ie:
worn on body: A striped gown of gossamer
function pullhem
player pulls the hem of her gown farther down.
worn on legs: a lower gown of gossaamer
Something like this though, can't be retroactively applied to existing gowns in game because it requires extra vnums, and there are over 50 dress items to be found currently all over. Easiest thing would be to include it in future area designs dependent on builder preference.

Worth mentioning, most people will see a gown and recognise that it is a long article of clothing that covers more than simply the body. Anyone who sees the gown and makes a comment otherwise is just being thoughtless or mistaken.

Yep. I agree with Alitar, it's not as if Nixa is standing there with a pose that she has hiked her gown up. I would think you could find a 'gusset' or similar things to wear as well.

This is totally doable in the sense that the gown could be multiple, matching objects. (In the way that I sometimes do shirts and sleeves as a matched pair.) There is a women's boutique in Immersea and I will keep that in mind for that shop.

The first instance... I would agree that handling the matter by saying OOCly that she's wearing a gown would have been ok. It was odd because ICly, she was handed a towel to cover up her lower half. But I gave the confused IC look, too.
The second instance, though... I would have to say that things become complicated. I have a cloak, that apparently, is set to be opaque? Non-transparent? You can't see what I'm wearing underneath, but it only shields the body from view. So in the second instance, the person could not see that I was wearing a gown. It was this instance that made me write the post.

This is something I try to avoid. Noticing items or objects being worn is something as a rogue player I find the hardest. Say Masks, a full face mask you may not notice them, but I've forgotten I've had a mask on hell I've forgot I was in hide. But any player that rps seeing up your dress better be rping that sleezy action. Overall I think it just takes players being open about it from an ooc perspective.
