Oghma's favor

Can this be looked into, please?

It seems that:

- sacrificing corpses damns you
- cooking corpses doesn't give any favor

- aiding yourself brings favor
- aiding others doesn't give any favor

- there seems to be no feasible way for non-spellcasters to gain favor

IMHO:

- there should be a clear position about corpses, either Oghma doesn't care (so let us sacrifice with impunity), or he cares and favor should be acquired from cooking. Or even, he is truly neutral and approves of both sacrifices and cooking!!!

- if aiding oneself grants favor, it should grant favor also for aiding others.

- there should be ways for a non-spellcaster to gain favor, definitely.

buying and reading books?

I mean, is it any less cheesy than killing thousands of small or low levle NPcs over and over.

I'd support Oghmanites getting favor for buying and reading book objects. I'd treat anyone re-reading the same book over and over the same way one would be treated for severely breaking IC.

I don't see as he cares about corpses either way. They should probably get no favor for either cooking or sacrificing.

I tried that and it doesn't work. Not even writing notes.

I suppose teaching grants favor, but it is hardly an accessible and feasible way to gain steadily favor of course.

Even singing, which is a bard skill, does not grant favor, despite Oghma being the patron of bards.

Nothing about dealing with corpses should give/remove favor for him, definitely. He cares about knowledge and bards, not dead things. The aid issue is actually something I've posted about recently; if you can find that thread and include logs or whatever, it might help find the issue, because Kelemvor and potentially a couple other faiths seem to be suffering from being favored for aiding one's self but not others when it should probably be the other way around.

Teaching should certaintly grant Oghmanites favor, and though it's not as steady a source as some others, I think if effort is put into teaching things well, it'll eventually pay off. I actually like when favor is difficult to gain because it discourages the super favor grinds that everyone seems to do the moment they're initiated to gain sup objects within a day, which really irks me as an FM, and it makes the favor that much more special, as it should be.

But yeah, reading, publishing, performing should all potentially be things he grants favor for, even if it's via application, perhaps. I could see the imm team agreeing to grant favor for those sorts of things if they're well done, just like you have to app to get bard tokens etc. to ensure people just aren't tossing whatever together to get a quick fix. Also, if aiding grants him favor, I suspect there is another very accessible IC way for even thieves and fighters to gain favor, but that's something I'll obviously not say here because, yeah, IC. But it shouldn't be too difficult to surmise. :)

I used a non-standard, soft-code solution to give Oghmanytes another option. Pending game update.

It's something very canon, right out of Faiths & Avatars.
