As the weather grows hotter for the season, a call has been put forth to the realms for adventurers who have an appetite for mystery to join the Dollmaker of Dreadfield Crag in a closed-door event. The witch has booked The Purple Haze Tavern for two consecutive days for the famed waitress, Dasiana, to conduct a dramatic retelling of a mystery that comes from the deepest recesses of Zhentil Keep’s crime archives.

Due to the sensitive nature of the tale, the witch will only accept four other attendees to this event. Should you find in yourself the desire to be involved, send a formal letter of request to the witch, detailing why you should be selected to participate in the event with her, along with your availability.

(OOC: This is a mini non-violent simulated adventure that characters of any alignment or level are welcome to participate in, though do consider your host’s background. However, because of the style of the activity, we can only accommodate four other characters. Send in your letters ICly to Levine together with your OOC available times, and I will be in touch with you when I can set a date and time in stone. Proposed date and time for the first run is in the weekend of 10th March:

2 WEEKS TO THE EVENT

Applications to join The Mystery of Viversnare Manor are still open!

Group/duo/trio applications are welcome as well, so do send your letters in to Levine ICly detailing why you or your party would be a suitable audience for Dasiana's dramatic retelling.

I would like to reiterate that it is completely non-violent, non-aggro, and the event will be focussed on enjoying The Mystery. Also, participating will not require your characters to do, be subject to, or be complicit in anything morally reprehensible. Ideally, I can get a nice mix of people (as good as having only four people can be), so as long as your character can tolerate being in The Purple Haze, you are quite welcome.

Tolerate meaning withstand the awesomeness of the Haze, I'm sure...

This sounds like it will be a really cool and unique event, I can't wait to see the outcome!

One week! Response has been particularly poor and market surveys have revealed to me the need for more transparency, especially because the context, colours and words chosen were too spoopy.
What in the world is this?
It’s an interactive theatre mystery adventure that will be held in a single tavern room. (Imagine your characters playing an RPG.) All are welcome to participate and have some fun!

Who is welcome?
All are welcome, even your Level 1 LG throwaway, Clericbabe the young adventurer.

Is it evil?
Nothing about it is evil, it just so happens that the host is possibly shady and the location is Unfortunate.

What's in it for me?
Careful attention devoted to you and each member of your party to ensure you are constantly engaged and not just a spectator. And some souvenirs.

My toon would never associate with this event. Why should I go?
Know thy enemy’s entertainment. Or, maybe it's a chance for reconciliation? Trying to catch a glimpse of humanity? Want the loot? Want the bragging rights? Want to freeload ZK entertainment? Want to go back and report on who laughs when discussing murder?

Can I go with my friends?
Absolutely. Gather a group of four, give me a time, and we’ll work from there (like Banomachy arrangements). If you can’t make 4, write in anyway and I can help to mix and match groups that are short, and you might all meet new people.

Is this even IC?
I made it IC so that you can see it as an opportunity for character development or gossip and you can talk about that time that you visited Viversnare Manor. If you don’t want to talk about it no one need ever know.

Are we going into Viversnare Manor?
Yes, we're "going" "into" Viversnare Manor. But only if you’re going to THE MYSTERY.

Have more questions? Ask them! Help me help you.
To tempt you into action, the first team to participate will be the only ones to receive a full set of unique souvenirs to THE MYSTERY. One of you will walk away with an exclusive miniature dollhouse of the Manor to remember the event by.

The second team will receive a smaller suite. One of you will walk away with another exclusive souvenir to remember the event by.

The third team onwards will have the minimum suite.

After that, ideally there are some decent to glowing reviews and the rest of you will be compelled to participate for the pure joy of the experience and street cred. The more groups that try this, the better, so we can learn what works for FK’s community and what doesn’t for future events of this nature.

Write in today!

The first run of THE MYSTERY will take place as scheduled! There's a chance that we may have room for one more, yet, so do drop me a tell or PM due to the short notice, or find those in-game who are attending, if I am not around.

After this first run, I'll keep it open for running until the last day of April. Just drop me/Levine a note with your parties and suggested dates/times, exclamation mark to appear friendly!

Four minutes! The Purple Haze Inn will be ICly closed for the duration. Please avoid scrying the people attending (if you know they're attending), and if you see anything pertaining to The Mystery, do keep it to yourself!

A huge thanks to the first team! This turned out much, much, nicer than I expected, and you all really brought life to the story. The Purple Haze Tavern is open again (has been for hours, now). Thank you to everyone else for respecting the privacy OOCly as well.

I am even more encouraged to see how different groups work, now - and I might be making some tweaks based on today's run to improve the experience. Again, I encourage you to form your teams, or just write in solo and we can all work together to form teams. I'd approximate The Mystery to be around 3 hours, and at the minimum.

This closes when April ends!
You guess Cabadath is casting light.
Cabadath utters the words, 'light'.
Light begins to radiate from a tiny savoury pastry.
Cabadath throws the pastry into the [redacted].

Speaking as one of the people in the first group -- I'm encouraging everyone to come up with teams. This is a nice "dinner mystery" RP. Levine was a great story teller and things moved along at a nice pace. You'll need to focus your attention on the story, otherwise some clues to the mystery may get missed.

But I can tell you that the group we had worked well together, and we fed off one another in hopes of determining the outcome. Now, I will say the "very end" was just as suspenseful as the mystery itself. That was just icing on the cake.

Please, please... if you have a chance to do one of these scenes, do it! You will not be disappointed.

Opening up for another run this weekend, anytime from Friday morning to Saturday night EST. Let me know if you would like to attend with a party or start one off. I'll post an exact timing if I get interest for it. I estimate a run to take 3-4 hours.

Don't be shy!

Yet another call has been put forth for a third run! Will you enter Viversnare Manor and discover THE MYSTERY?

This is in approximately twelve and a half hours from this post. 30 March, 8PM EST. I have one person now, so we just need at least two more to set off. Send Levine a letter or tell with interest - I'll be around about half an hour before the event, and I'll do cold calls if need be to reach at least three people.

If you are interested in attending, but need a slight shift in timing, or just want to start a whole new party, now is the time to express your interest! Below is the time for the third run:

Cold calling for the next hour or so! We need two more bold (or meek) adventurers for this exclusive viewing!

UPDATE: Cold calls have closed for the day. Better luck next time! Write in/send a tell if you wish to participate at another time. We currently have a party of one interested in sometime this weekend. Sunday is definitely out for me, I'm afraid.

Going to attempt to form a party once more for this third run. This will be the last try for this weekend!

My professional guesstimations put me at a likely two confirmed people for this party. At least one. Drop Levine a tell or a letter - I'll log her on approximately half a RL hour before and cold-call if need be. Same drill. Time/date below:

Accidentally stepped on another event's timing - my bad! Third run timing to be confirmed.

Alright, for real this time. Third run time below. Let me know via magical post, forum post, or PM if you're interested in joining. I have 1-2 people ready to go, so that's 1-2 people more to form a team.

Will you attend THE MYSTERY?
