[skill] Riposte Succeeds Untrained

Hello:
This one is pretty much as simple as the subject line. I somehow managed to successfully riposte today without ever having trained the skill. I double-checked just to be sure, and Liza definitely does not know it.
A bandit cleric begins to chant.
A bandit cleric approaches you and prepares to engage you in combat!
Reginald, a pure white Cormyrean destrier joins the battle!
You parry a bandit cleric's attack.
You riposte a bandit cleric's attack.
Your pierce nearly bisects a bandit cleric's left leg.
a bandit cleric has several traumatic wounds.
A bandit cleric gets distracted and stops chanting.
Your pierce nearly bisects a bandit cleric's head.
A bandit cleric is stunned, but will probably recover.
Thanks for reading.

Anyone else see evidence of this?

I have not seen that, but Harroghty can riposte with a bow (which is kind of a piercing weapon, but not the same really).

A wraith cavalryman sidesteps your piercing attack.

Your pierce tears wounds into a wraith cavalryman's abdomen.
a wraith cavalryman is leaking heart-blood.
She still doesn't know it. Not even high enough level to learn it yet.

Apologies for double-postage. Noticed after a span of grinding tonight that this kept up, so I went back through my logs...
It turns out that Elisabeth's never once failed to riposte after a successful parry while wielding a piercing weapon. Specifically, it has always been a mounted polearm (haven't tried with other weapon types). Of the sixteen parries she's made with that weapon, sixteen have been followed up by a riposte attack that struck the opponent. I just hadn't noticed it happening through realtime combat spam.
I might try with different weapon types and on an alt who also hasn't trained riposte in coming days if I get a while, but thus far it definitely seems like something's off here and thought it worth mention.

I've kept up observations on this...
Two characters, one a fighter wielding either long spikes or thrusting blades, the other a paladin wielding mounted polearms, both do not know the riposte skill at all but have followed up 100% of now several hundred parries with a successful riposte.
So, it doesn't seem to be something specific to either Elisabeth, the paladin class, or weapon types; rather, it looks to be a possible problem with the riposte skill itself. Especially concerning given the automatic nature of riposte and the high level at which it's learned, which keeps some new to mid-high level warriors and most every rogue at those levels from being able to avoid exploiting the bug even if they want to.

Earlier I made a post with screenshots regarding that I, too, witnessed this bug. Upon speaking to another I found out that riposte doesn't always proc after a parry. Right now I'm 3-for-3 with a parry:riposte ration. With every parry, without having riposte trained, I have had a riposte follow up.
My parry IS trained. It's currently at amateur. It was the most I could train when I found it. (I was level 21 when I trained it with my class allowing it at 26 along with riposte.)

There is no increase of skill with riposte in spite of seeing the echo (confirmed). I am also not sure the riposte actually does any damage (unconfirmed).

Agreed, I definitely have not seen any improvement of riposte from not known to inept. None of my PCs have trained it yet, either.
On the question of the riposte's dealing damage when the skill is unknown, however, I believe it does so. In the two below instances, the parry came in the first round of the fight, when no damage had been dealt against the mob until the riposte happens. When it does, the game indicates a drop in damage, and the damage echo caused by my following attack seems consistent with an attack made on an already damaged opponent. I see this happening in most other instances; these were just two very clear examples.

Also, my original post in this thread shows a riposte causing a spellcaster to lose concentration while casting, which definitely seems to indicate damage dealing.
Hope that helps some.

Thanks. Does it work in PvP or just PvE?

Tested in PvP and no riposte from three successful parries. Both PCs are apprentice at riposte and both were wielding rapiers.

As I haven't been able to test in PVP I cannot confirm if it results in the same but... riposte has done damage for me.
