Mithril Chef Waterdeep

In the spirit of the Winterfest season, namely staying indoors and cooking delicious
foods, the church of Waukeenar will be holding the first annual Mithril Chef Waterdeep
competition! The contest will take place in the Temple of Beauty in the ballroom,
which will be outfitted with ovens, counters, and all the various implements you could
possibly need to cook up your own masterpieces.

The cooking will take place in three rounds: appetizer, entree, and dessert. Each
round every contestant will be presented with a basket of food items which they must
incorporate into their meal in some way. They'll also be able to pick whatever other
basic ingredients (butter, flour, meat, cheese, cream, etc) from the larder provided
for by the church of Waukeen.

Every judge will award points for each dish presented: ten for originality, ten for
taste, and ten for plating. The lowest scoring third of contestants will be hacked
and only the other contestants will move on to the next round.

The prize for the winner will be a fabulous parcel of food, including possibly more
but no less than 150 savoury courses, 50 dessert courses, and 50 drinks, a perfect
assortment for catering any events you may be planning on hosting in the future.
Apart from the dishes which are cooked for the benefit of the judges, each contestant
will be asked to make at least ten more plates of their dishes which will be sent to
the ilmateri to distribute to the poor of the city and make their winterfest just a
little bit warmer.

(OOC: So, the way this is going to go down is that you'll be given parchment and can
use that to describe your dish. Your character will be assumed to have made the
extra plates for the charity via imagination, and they'll be sent away at the end of
the competition. The format will be to start with the appearance and then describe
the taste in separate paragraphs. I'll put an example below:

Code: Select all

A delicious custard napoleon

Appearance: This dessert consists of three layers of crispy, flaky puff pastry between
which are sandwiched layers of rich custard. The top has been iced with a thin layer
of chocolate fondant and then criss-crossed with white icing.

Taste: The pastry has a crisp flavour and is lightly sweetened with caramelized sugar.
The custard between is rich and creamy but not overly sweet. The layer of fondant on
top is quite sweet, but pairs well with the rest of the dessert.

As for ingredients, unless it's really exotic (ie. dragon egg), assume you can find it
in the larder. If you're not sure, feel free to ask.

Scoring-wise, plating in this context will basically be how well written the entry is.
Taste and originality are left entirely to the IC discretion of the judges.

Thanks in advance to everyone who participates!)

Just a quick little reminder that this event is in three days! There's time yet to dust off your favourite recipes and adapt them to the challenge!
