One-handed ranged weapons

Post by Grenwyn » Sun Nov 25, 2018 8:34 pm

(These are questions about the current state, not about what could/should be.)
  • Do hand crossbows exist as such, or are they just resized light crossbows? Can they be dual-wielded (perhaps with GM dual wield)?
  • Can slings be dual-wielded (perhaps with GM dual wield)?
  • Do slings or thrown weapons get a strength bonus to damage?

As I understand it. The way the code is setup you cannot dual wield ranged weapons. Even if they are one handed like the hand crossbows, but also when you look at it you could theoretically in a table top setting dual wield them, but you could not reload them so it'd be a single shot use and then you're forced to stop reload them both again or change out weapons. Now I don't see why there couldn't be an item that is restrung as a pair of hand crossbows (which would be super cool)

Handcrossbows are just downsized light crossbows. There is no handcrossbow weapon type.
It is a light crossbow in the crossbows category of weapons.
It can be picked up, held, held in both hands.
It cannot be worn with any other armour.
It is small in size and would fit any body type.
It is made of ebony and weighs about 2 pounds.
But you can dual wield these.
You wield a handcrossbow in your right hand.
A handcrossbow feels like a part of you.
You dual wield a handcrossbow in your left hand, which is your offhand.
A handcrossbow feels like a part of you.
Even slings.
You wield a leather sling in your right hand.
You don't even know which end of a leather sling is up!
A leather sling feels nice and light to you.
You dual wield a leather sling in your left hand, which is your offhand.
You don't even know which end of a leather sling is up!
A leather sling feels nice and light to you.
They do not appear to get a strength bonus, but neither do compound bows and they should, too.

Ah my mistake. I was told in the past like...far flung back then that they just wouldn't work! That's pretty awesome!
