Fleeing up causes death?

Code: Select all

Under the hillock
NE-Inside the BarrNW-Inside the BarrSE-Inside the BarrSW-Inside the Barr
A small circle of light high above you marks the sole exit from the cavernous
chamber all about you. You can see a stone table, several cracked urns, rolls
of linen, and rusting tools. It appears as if bodies were prepared here for
interring.
     An ancient stone table for funereal prepation is here. (perfect)
     A crude set of mortuary tools are stacked here haphazardly. (perfect)
[...combat happens, I am still at full health...]
Your stone skin absorbs all of a barrow draughr's damage.
You begin to chant.
a barrow draughr sees through your illusion.
flee
Your stone skin absorbs all of a barrow draughr's damage.
You prepare to flee ...
...Everything begins to fade to black.

You feel yourself leaving your body... rising up into the air, you feel
more free than you have ever felt before...

However, before your deity comes to collect your soul, you feel a strange
pulling sensation as strange and colorful mists swirl around you...
You start to climb... but lose your grip and fall!
OUCH! You hit the ground!
You start to climb... but lose your grip and fall!

You wish that your wounds would stop BLEEDING so much!

You flee from combat!
I had just descended from above, and then tried to flee back up. I had ethereal flyer active, but was not actively flying (I had landed). I typed Flee once, and apparently it made me try to climb until the falling damage killed me?

High Moor - Barrows (Flying/Climb bug?)

Post by Ralthasar » Sun Apr 12, 2020 7:19 pm

When playing on Aerayir, I had flown down to engage with some draughr, then went a bit afk off and on throughout the fight. During it, I turned away to work and came back to about 46%-ish hp. At this time I was disarmed, picked up my sword, and engaged in combat until about 25% hp. At this time I decided to flee since I was flying, just to be safe and not risk it.

Apparently this made me force the climb-check a couple of times until death. Not sure if it goes more than twice (until success? Until death?) but this is the log that I have:
<25%hp 0m 86%mv>
flee
You prepare to flee ...

<25%hp 0m 86%mv>
You sidestep a barrow draughr's piercing attack.

Your armor hinders your attempt at climb.

Confirmed this bug, but this is a hard coded issue. I have deployed a soft code fix in 114485 to fix the problem here, but it will need a bigger fix for a general solution.
