To the heroes and villains of Faerun, and those who wish the opportunity to be either:

At a time not too far away from now, the devotees of the Church of Shar will retrieve four artifacts from some of the strongest guardians in the lands to complete a ritual that will cast the distant city of Oakenfort in darkness, securing Her dominion over its entire population for a thousand years.

While the Nightmistress enjoys keeping her secrets safe, secrets are no fun without the thrill of the hunt. As such, Shar offers a quest: thwart Her plans and beat her devotees to the artifacts. The rewards include the chance to save Oakenfort, to foil the Sharrans' plans, among other tangible treasures and opportunities along the way.

Gather your strongest of will and power in the plains southeast of the Queenspire at the appointed time, and you will be issued instructions and the clue to the first guardian. May the battle between the forces of good and evil be ever in your favour.

OOC: This will be held over 4 weeks, ideally same time every week, approximately Friday nights (this sample time). It doesn't have to be the same team every round, it doesn't entirely matter. This is essentially going to be a series of dragon hunts open to both good and evil toons. For the sake of saving Oakenfort, I hope you guys can find some way to tolerate being in the same room with the goodies/evils for a bit. This also would help you with Quarrantine Bingo and one other PC fetch quest right now.

The basic idea: Kill the dragon, retrieve the artifact, destroy it. I'll be working moral dilemmas in there, and whatever else I can think of to help your characters grow and get to know each other. As a group, you can lose the game. I'm hopeful this storyline will work, but it's experimental for me as well. Please be patient because everything will pretty much be manually done!

***First things first, I know a number of you have new characters, do you want more time to level up to kill dragons? We can begin next week (3 April for most), or in three weeks (17 April).

Prize Update 11 April 2020:
To thank all of you for participating in the episodes, I will be preparing three prizes, and at the end of the entire saga, I will randomly choose and announce a winner from each of the following categories:

1. Individuals who destroyed an artifact
2. Individuals who surrendered an artifact to Shar
3. Individuals who dealt the first death blow to the guardian of each episode

You can be in multiple categories, but you cannot be in the same category more than once, so do give other PCs a chance to do the deeds. I decided on random selection because choosing favourite RPers would be more unfair, I hope you guys will understand! Or, if you have a better suggestion, PM me before Episode 2!

Cool! I can work with either schedule, but wouldn't mind more time to level first.

I've never even seen a dragon, so I'm probably not leveled enough, but perhaps if the group is large enough...

The minimum level I'd recommend is 35, if you have enough high-level support.

I thought so, and I don't know how to train very fast so I'll not be joining you guys. Maybe next time

I've led very-low-level characters into top-level dragon fights without any deaths before. It's definitely dicey, but definitely doable. And even if you do die, well, that's what resurrection's for. I doubt the forces of good or even evil would have a problem restoring life to a brave companion fallen in service to their goodly/darkly ideals.

Okay, but even if it made sense ICly to join, which I am still not sure it does, (I don't even know where Oakenfort is OOC, internet says it's a Bishop not a city ) would it make sense OOCly to join? I mean, will I even do any damage, or enough damage that my contribution would make a difference? It's a dragon, after all. I suppose with enough buff spells...I am certainly interested in slaying dragons, I just don't see how it makes sense for me yet. At least for my highest level character, anyway. My second highest might just decide to join regardless of the outcome, because that's the kind of person he is.

To clear up some doubts about whether Shar is tricking you into saving some evil goblin community...

Oakenfort's a made-up place, and I've recently decided it's a coastal city in Luiren. The population is 90+% halfling. The call was to both heroes and villains, so come one, come all!

Just come along if you like, we'll make anything work.

My schedule cleared up next week. For those who might be even the slightest bit interested, how much more time would you like to grind up? Shall we do 10th or 17th April evening (US time)?

The general order of events for each session will be:
1. Receive instructions/clue
2. Find and kill dragon once
3. RP to ensue
4. Event officially over but everyone can stay on and kill and re-kill the dragon for loot if you want

Warden Formyndare will definitely be available to protect Hin communities! Its a perfect time for me, starting April 3rd.

Well, perhaps only from Alaska to Labrador...But from LA to Toronto is still a good difference.

Episode 1 of Save Oakenfort begins this Friday! Everyone must work together as a team for the duration of the event, because it is Shar's decree and I don't think I could handle two separate RP parties. Goodies, you may want to start campaigning for what is right! Neutrals, your neutral services may be of use to some parties..? Evils, you might even want to NOT side with Shar! Or, do you want to establish alliances already..?

I know timeanddate.com seems to be a staple around here but I am unable to visit it. I am able to visit worldtimebuddy.com, but I don't want to force people to change their habits for one person. However, if I am to show up on time I need to know when, right? As far as I knew, the tag p1 had to be a number but I only see p1=%3A and p1=: (which are the same thing in html). Can someone can confirm the timezone for me? Thanks in advance

I'm not even sure if we accomplished the task, but I had a -lot- of fun with the RP regardless, we band of the worst heroes ever.
