When was evermeet founded?

I know that Evermeet's construction was started during the crown wars, but that covers the years between -12000 and -9000. I cannot narrow it down any further then that. If someone knows, I'd like to know, for my own curiosity. I am trying to construct a timeline of important events.

-24000 DR
The Sundering:
Hundreds of High Magi gathered in the heartland of Faerûn at the Gathering Place. Ignoring the lesson learned from the destruction of Tintageer centuries earlier, the High Magi cast a spell designed to create a glorious elven homeland. As the Day of Birthing dawned, the spell reached its apex. Faerûn, the one land, is sundered apart by the unbridled force of the spell. As a result, hundred of cities are washed away, thousands of elves lie dead, and the face of Abeir-Toril is changed forever. The name Faerûn, no longer the one land, was given to largest continent. Evermeet, Island of Elves, is created. The Tree of Souls is given to the elves.
I recommend reading Evermeet-Island of Elves by Elaine Cunningham

Wow, that's interesting, since the Forgotten realms campaign setting manuel contradicts that.
The Crown Wars
The elves colonized the islands of Evermeet and parts of the future Moonshaes, taking the first steps toward what would someday be known as elven high magic. This powerful arcane knowledge allowed the elves to contest with and finally drive back the dragons for the first time in history. With strong magic and many allies, the elves built great cities and mighty kingdoms. Little did they know that their greatest threat was to come from within their own race
It goes on with more, but that's where I got the 3000 year timeframe, the crown wars was during that time. I'll have to check out that book in any case.

Both Larethiel and Leohand are correct. During the Sundering, Evermeet was made to rise out of the sea (it caused great loss of life and destruction across Faerun - that would be -24000DR). Then, at about -9000 DR, the elves started to settle. Noble houses from elven nations like Aryvandaar sent elves to ensure there was a safe haven. When they arrived, they found lots of wood and wild elves.
So, it was
created in -24000DR, but
settled(officially) in -9000DR

Oh, so it was settled in the year -9000? Well, that still makes it consideraby older then I thought. I actually thought that Evermeet was founded and settled after the destruction of Myth Drannor, but in truth it was built thousands of years before their was a Myth Drannor, I guess. But in it's time Myth Drannor was supposed to be the most beautiful of all elven cities, so even though it was younger, it was nicer then Evermeet. That's very interesting. But, when you think about it, more elves probably moved to Cormanthor, being mainland and all, but I'm off topic. Thanks for the information.

Cast a glance on elven history on Faerûn, it's surely interesting, though a little bit complicated sometimes
Good sources would include Cormanthor-Empire of Elves and Elves of Evermeet.
I had a really hard time to get them
And as far as I know there has been a number, perhaps small number, of Elves living on Evermeet since its creation, but I totally agree with Lerytha and this may be minor things.

It was settled in -9000, and the elven nobles ruled it, improved protections, etc. Meanwhile, various elven empires fell, etc. The final straw came when Myth Drannor fell. Then, the elves began to heed the "call" to Evermeet in greater droves, this becoming known as the "Retreat".
So, three key dates:
-27000DR - "The Sundering" (Evermeet is created)
-9000DR - Certain key noble houses of Aryvandaar organise a colonisation of Evermeet, to create a secure elven stronghold.
<Date of Myth Drannor's Fall> - The elves begin their vast Retreat
1369/70? - Evermeet is attacked, lots of damage done... elven Retreat is ended (this has not yet happened in the MUD)
Elven history is complicated, and there are SO many differing sources. Some are wrong, some are half-right... I mean, I'm probably wrong. But I've just gained a "general" impression of the "general" movements over the course of my reading elven stuff. I don't think an elven PC who gets the dates/sequences slightly wrong will EVER be frowned upon. The fact that you are doing this research is great!

also note that even though the green isle was not settled till later on it had green (wild) elves upon it along with moon horses and others before it was settled by the silver and gold elves.
