Faithing

Just a curiousity,

But for those of us that have rp'd and been quested for a particular faith, but have noticed that the faith has gone somewhat dormant, i.e. no-one capable of faithing the members logs, does someone else step in to do the faithing?

Being a faith manager, I personally try to log often but I can find it difficult OOCly at times, when I can usually only log for a few minutes or a hour I usually look on people's titles for a hint as to see if anyone needs me. Another way is to arrange a time to RP by PM'ing them on the boards or use the magical post. If all other resources have been exhausted I suppose an email to fkapplications@lists.skynet.ie could find its way to someone who manages a particular faith.

Hate to start a new thread over my ignorance, so I'll toss it in this one. Is "pray" still a valid path to being faithed if a player/npc of the faith in question cannot be found for enquiring/applying? (boards still there?) Or is the email addy the only non-ingame way?

One of my younglings has used pray lately since I have yet to locate any of the faith he seeks and was sort of curious if it is an empty command these days.

Alrighty. Alot of my FK knowledge has been outdated during my 'vacation'. Wanted to be sure I wasn't praying to the wall.

I've held my tongue for a bit and tried to keep it IC for as long as possible. I talk to people IC about the Tempurian faith and I get a lot of "Yeah, Marcus hasn't been around for a bit."'s and lots of "Yeah, I haven't seen very many tempurians lately"'s. Several people have told me to contact Selveem, and I am also curious if he is taking up the role of FM while Marcus is gone... Would it be a good idea to PM the god? What should I do?

This has been an issue I have brought up many times. I'm sorry, I can RP with you, but I am not authorized for any faith quests or anything. I have brought this up with Tempus, but as Tempus is an active Imm (or was?) and has a faith manager, Algon, there is no need for me to do any faithing or the like.

I would be more than happy to, however, if/when I am ever authorized.

I know it's frustrating and annoying at times, but you'll just have to take it in stride. I have a Maskite wannabe who I've had for over seven years who was quested, but since the player involved in his quest has left the game he can't continue. My attempts to meet with the FM for Mask have been fruitless IC - can't seem to catch them to meet up. I'm aware I can make OOC arrangements for an IC opportunity, but to me I'd rather just 'run into' the RP. :)

I'll continue to monitor the thread and see what everyone else says.

Velius,

It might be best to send in an application for a faith quest if there is no one available to help you in the game icly. Faith managers are appointed at the digression of the deity of the faith or by the admin team. As real life takes president over game time, sometimes players both imm or pc (we are all players) might be busy and it may take sometime to be faithed. Praying once also works as a reminder, though an application would probably work just as well. Regardless, patience is key in these situations and a reminder coming in email form is always good, as it explains the character's desire, history and goals while also reaffirming dedication that cannot always be expressed ingame. Not that it should not be present, an application for faithing in a registered faith is always the last tactic. So I would recommend sending in the application explaining the pc and their goals in joining a faith.

For what it's worth: Don't give up! If you really RP the faith even without being officially part of it, the "system" will catch up with the IC reality you create, in time!

Just out of curiosity: I was wondering if there is a set amount of time where, after praying and not receiving a response for being faithed, one should attempt an application.

Personal rule is the same timeline attached to emails I send to FK addies, 1 week. Seems to keep everyone happy and not feel hassled.

I don't want to sound like a broken record. But, I am in the same boat. Trying to finish a task given to one of my lowbies, but I can't seem to finish as some of those chars to RP with are seldom on or when on, difficult to reach. I realize that RL stuff happens, I realize that just as well as anybody...

I had given up for awhile and simply started playing my already established chars more often. What would be a reasonable amount of time? I have heard some people waiting from a year to several. I am not sure I have the patience for that... (I do not mean for that to sound rude, just my time as is others, is limited).

I know I do not mind if people PM or IM Rynn for faith stuff, but I am hesistant to do that to others, I would rather see them online and try to RP with them to finish up my tasks.

In regards to finding characters, Most players have accounts on this forum. I am an advocate of sending a PM just saying "Hey I have a character that has been asked to find your character. I know you are likely busy in life but is there any way we can set aside a time to meet"? I have had players contact me with similar requests and never minded it!

I think many people that share Mouat's issue generally face the problem of the deity having very limited time or not being played and being without a Faith Manager.

That's what makes it difficult sometimes. I believe the best course of action at that point is, yes, to submit an application. I have a few characters that are still supposed to get faithed, but due to my limited free time at home, I haven't been able to play much so it's my own fault at this point.

Not going to start a new thread, but add to this one due to Oghma's policy post regarding active faiths and hopefuls. Though my situation is addressed by the new policy, it brings up a question.

Now and again (especially on a certain dwarf character), people ask me for advise on how to address their concerns via their faithing. Up til now, I have been suggesting a standard "IC seek members-wait, pray-wait, email-wait" step process so they are doing everything they can OOC and IC to progress their regilious dedications. But now, this new policy post has me concerned that suggesting they email applications after doing the pray and IC search steps might be ill-advised.

Is emailing the applications addy after a respectable period of time (in my eyes, this means at least several IRL months) now not the right way? This is not regarding visibily active FM/imm faiths, but the less popular or less active ones where the status of FM/imm is questionable. Hate giving bad advise to young folks...

There will be a faith drive eventually that will work to faith any stray hopefuls of deities. The reason for the post as policy was to stem the flow of registered faith applications for the time being. A Faith drive would solve problems at a greater faith then dealing with this situation on a case by case basis.

So...

Pray-wait, seek folks IC-wait, and if all else fails... wait for drive. Got it. Glad to get that straightened out, thanks Oghma.
