Inappropriate darkness
At night time, getting an item from a container will cause the entire room to go dark. Leaving the room and returning seems to fix it.
However, dropping the item also causes the room to go dark, but leaving and reentering will NOT fix it. This is an especially pesky bug when you want to start a fire at night and get some wood from your bag.
Perhaps related, worn (glowing) items do not seem to illuminate forest areas when darkness falls.

Re: Inappropriate darkness
While I have experienced this odd super-darkness myself, I was not able to reproduce it by performing the steps above, in either the plains or the forest just north of the Deep. Perhaps the location or time of day are also important?Jaenoic wrote:At night time, getting an item from a container will cause the entire room to go dark. I and another player came across this lately:
Standing at the entrance of Ardeep it suddenly went dark. Another player entered and we were able to see nothing but
It is pitch black ...
A bear shambles here.
The red form of a living creature is here.
Nothing was able to lighten the area neither a witch-light nor a fire which we tried later. Glowing items such as swords/jewelry etc. didn't work, too. Looking in any direction only gave the "It is pitch black" echo.

Weit in der Champagne im Mittsommergrün,
dort, wo zwischen Grabkreuzen Mohnblumen blühn,
da flüstern die Gräser und wiegen sich leicht
im Wind, der sanft über das Gräberfeld streicht.

I'd like to add that in the path in Ardeep if you're not carrying a light it is dark, even during the day. Having a light fixes it, just seems a bit odd.

This could also be caused by damage to the Weave. I'll try to remember to report it to the Mystrans.
The truth cant hurt you its just like the dark
It scares you witless
But in time you see things clear and stark

This also occurred in the vacant lot just opposite of Willy's shop on Warrior's Way in Waterdeep. I had a traveller's light(two at one point) and I couldn't see a thing. It went away in a minute or so though.

Re: Inappropriate darkness
One of my alts is continually getting the darkness bug following him. It does not always seem to be around him but once the darkness bug is around him, it seems to stay.
I have noticed that "out" in the wilds, it does not seem to affect him. But in an area, Waterdeep, Silverymoon or the Friendly Inn, there are rooms that he cannot see anything in. The room does seem to get lit when there is another mob in the room or when another PC is in the room with a light. But as soon as that NPC or PC is gone from that room, the room seems to go dark.
An imm or two tried to troubleshoot it with my alt but had no success when my char was at the Friendly Arms Inn.
Thanks in advance for any assistance that can be given.
Oh, this has been an ongoing thing with my alt since July/August.

Re: Inappropriate darkness
This happened again to me on the game port today when removing a glowing object from a container.
I'm moving this to Confirmed, with testing still underway.
Any more logs or details appreciated!
