Important notices have been posted here and there in Waterdeep, alluding to an event that should take place 2.5 hours after the time of this post.

For those who have missed the first announcement, the Lords of Waterdeep have decided to leave the day-to-day administration of the city to Elected Lords. The First Council of Elected Lords will be made up of 2 representatives of the Watch (chosen amongst its ranks) and 3 Elected Lords.

The time has come for those who would like to be candidates to those elections to step forward. It is required that each of them write a letter to Open Lord Piergieron by the end of the current month.

Each player with a character who wants to be a candidate in those elections must send a mail to fkbuilders@lists.skynet.ie before September 7th, with "Waterdeep - elections" as its subject. The mail should include the name of their account, the name of their character, and the amount of hours played on that character. Only character whose hometown is Waterdeep can apply, and you can have only one candidate per account.

Candidates are highly encouraged to campaign in-game. You have poster notices that you can nail to the walls, you can set up events and debates, you can post longer notices on the boards, and so on. Be imaginative !

The elections should take place by the end of September. More details about how and when they will be help should be available in the next weeks.

Of these 6 candidates, only 3 will become Elected Lords of Waterdeep.

Only one announcement left after this one (well, two, if you include the announcement of the winners!).

Here is how the election is going to happen.
- Each voting character will go to Lady Honoria and request a voting card.
- They will then select three names on their voting cards.
- And they will bring the card back to Lady Honoria.

Each vote can thus give 1 point to 3 of the candidates. When all is done, the points/votes for each of the candidates will be totaled and the winnes will be the 3 candidates with the largest numbers of points.

(If two candidates or more get the same amount of points and it prevents us from selecting the first three Elected Lords, then we will set up another procedure at that time).

The election should happen soon (as in: maybe 2 weeks ?).

I will try and run a life-sized test for the Waterdeep elections tonight (European time, about 6-7 hours after the time of this post).

Something very important to remember if you want to take part in it: You will be told to visit a mob at the end of the test, so your quest bits are reset. If you do not do it, you will not be able to take part in the real elections ... so make sure you do it!

How long will the test be going for? I get off an hour or two after you'll be starting it.

The election will be held around January 3, 2009.

It will most likely start on Jan 3 (European evening/USA early afternoon) and run for approximately 24 hours.

Only 2 more weeks to make up your mind !

Dang... won't be around then. Moving. Any chance at a mail-in vote?

Sorry, no option for a mail vote (unless too many people can't make it - but then we might as well just move the elections).

Any rules about the elections?

- Am I right in thinking candidates can vote for themselves?
- Is every character allowed to vote, or just one character per account?

Those are just two of my questions, but wanted to ask before tomorrow!

I have to do some things about 15 mins before this starts, so I would be very grateful if this started early like mentioned in the post.

So I log on before I go out today to spend Isaldur's last few platinum on signs, spend some time writing catchy slogans and posting them about the market..

And then the game crashes.

I think I'm not alone amongst the candidates in saying thank you for the hard work that's most likely gone on behind the scenes to get this finally rolling.

Well I just cast Isaldur's votes. Everything went smoothly and was written well, especially the card marking. Kudos to everyone involved in the scripting and coding.

I just want to thank everyone that took the time to participate and vote in the election.

The voting is continuing ! Depending on how many votes have been cast in, I'll stop the votes later today (after they have run for 24 hours), or tomorrow (after they have run for 48 hours).

Most of the candidates are very very close to each other; actually so close that a single voter could change the rankings! That means that every vote counts.
