JOUST OF PEACE, Round Two

There will be another joust of peace.

A proper, detailed announcement will follow here (and in game), but there will be a joust of peace open to all comers (who fit the criteria) on Sunday, 4 January 2009.

http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/f ... c=0&p1=179

The location is TBD and I will update this thread as the subject develops but I wanted to provide enough time for proper planning to support a good turn-out. Generally:

-Non-magical lances will be provided (your PC must use a provided lance).
-Non-magical melee weapons must be used. PCs may bring their own but they must be a type of sword, type of ax, long-spike, or short-spike).
-Magical armor will be allowed, but magical affects will not (magical rings, ioun stones, etc.)
-Heavy armor and a helm are mandatory. Your character does not have to be able to one-hand a lance (but this is preferred and the lance and shield combination is the only other acceptable alternative to a lance in two hands).
-A horse is mandatory. If your PC does not own a horse (shame on you), then you would be able to borrow one for the event (it will occur in one room and no "order"ing is really required), but they will not be provided by the tournament.
-The bouts will be scored by officials appointed by the host (I would love to have Sade do this again, but would love to hear from volunteers who may or may not be accepted).
-Bards are encouraged. Ideally each rider would have a herald. If this isn't possible, then as many bards who come will be included one way or another.
-Entrance fee will be 5 platinum. This will fund prizes. The fee is due NLT the day of the event (and it's preferred that PCs pay then).

I'll ask that those who intend to participate with their PCs would let me know in advance if possible so that I am able to arrange things. If you want to bring your own bard, great, but I'll ask that bards also get in touch with me if they are able to help out (and mention if they are representing anyone).

Wow, all that being said, I am available via PM, in game IC (after a proper announcement), in game OOC, and so on for questions. Cheers.

Just as a note,

I expect most active Tempurians to be at this event unless someone already has OOC events planned.

Selveem will be in attendance as a participant as my show of support for this event.

This will occur tomorrow on the fields at Hillvale (Corner of the High Road and Calantar's Way then South beside the Starwater River, there are some fields at the extreme Western end of the main road in town). If you've already given me a heads up that you want to participate then awesome, but we will arrange the actual order of matches the day of when I see who is present and on time. Thanks!

Drew, I was treated like a rented mule last night. I just got home from work and finally going to bed. If I was a meteorologist I'd say something like "partly cloudy with a chance of Tyson dieing in his sleep and not making the joust". But I'm not as eloquent, or learned, as our fair weather broadcasters - so I said, "Do you love me?" and she said, "No, but that's a really nice ski mask."

Hood, out

If we have a horse and a paladin mount (in Raona's case, an owl), do you prefer one over the other?

Scoring will be as follows.

For the randomization of the hit code:

Part / Points
Head = 5
Body = 4
Abdomen = 3
Arms = 2
Legs = 1

For the randomization of damage code:

Damage / Points
Perforate = 15
Lays Open = 13
Gash = 12
Lacerate = 11
Tear = 10
Slash = 8
Shred = 5
Penetrate = 3
Cut = 2

There should not be harder hits than Perforate on killmode spar. If something not foreseen does happen the Judge will err on the side of caution and reserves final say.

Thank you for everyone that attended. The scoring system was alot better this time around than last and I hope for it to be perfected by the time of the next joust. Much of it was spur of the moment value plugging and it will be revised once I can find an answer for a master list of weapon types, damages, dealt, and descriptors for damage deal (I.E. the difference between violently shredding and skillfully shredding). If you have any suggestions for the scoring please send them to me via PM as I am open for revision and suggestion.

Lastly one big thank you to Harroghty for setting the event up and for any behind the scenes actions of IMM's for making this work.

Thank you very much to:
-Oghma for your help in arranging the rewards and the props.
-Isaldur for your help in judging with very little support (yes, this doubles as an apology.)
-Everyone who showed up. These kind of events are only fun with participation and your participation and effort made this event.

Keep showing up and I will continue to host these! Thanks again.

With apologies for Sade for not doing so ICly (I had to leave in a hurry to take care of Kai!), deep thanks for doing a superb (Tyrran-approved!) judging job, moreover very quickly. I know it's very hard to do, and high pressure!

Thanks for organizing this, Harroghty!
